Just popped my head out of the front door :eek:still constant snow and getting thicker but really strange no traffic, very quite ,no people almost spooky ;)Looks like folks are being sensible and staying in the warm and not going out unless they really need to.Lamb stew cooked complete with dumplings so off to have a nice big bowl for lunch.0

Same here. I remember the constant snow and cold of 63 (January to March:eek:) I remember having a lot of headaches which were partly put down to the cold and constant glare from the snow when walking to and from school. No school runs then so the schools stayed open:D
What a awful winter that was If I remember it started snowing boxing day 62 I was in training Army in Woking surrey and all I remember is No Drill on the Square but indoor drill in Gymnasium in plimsols also spending many hours and days shovelling snow in Woking town center0 -
So true. When I lived in Vermont USA, they would love my stories about the utter choas us Brits would have over a couple of centimeters of snow.
We just aren't prepared to the same level though and people do need to think of the elderly, and remind them to keep warm and make sure and have hot meals. We are off to my Gran's to check on her and a few neighbours today.
Up here in the North East we are used to having rotten weather. In fact we have the opposite problem when summer unexpectedly arrives and we get a couple of days of hot weather. Plumbers busy helping people who don't know how to turn the heating off, panic buying of sunglasses/suncream and the supermarket shelves are emptied of beer to help keep cool as soon as the temperature rises into double figures:rotfl::rotfl:Awaiting a new sig0 -

Not been around much for the last few days, it's been rather strange actually. I'm not a prolific poster by any means, but I do always keep up and this is the first time since I joined that I've missed big chunks of the thread.
Unfortunately my mother in law, who was in hospital last week, passed away on MondaySo things have been rather hectic. OH has been in Glasgow since last week and I've been up and down the road between Glasgow and Inverness. I'm currently staying with my parents and will be leaving DD here and be heading through to Glasgow on Sunday for the funeral on Monday. It's been pretty tough as I've not really been able to be there for OH, I've only seen him for a couple of hours since Monday and DD misses him something awful as well.
I can see there has been some apg glitches again, hope you've all been taking full advantageNo snow here for me, but for those that are getting lots I hope you're all taking care .
So sorry for your loss. Sending hugs Caz x0 -
