I was going to get a speedlite 430 ex11 , from jessops using tesco cc vouchers unfortunately for all, thats not going to happen.
I have been having a look around and just keep going in circles so heres the question.
Are these flashes that claim to be as good or better than the speedlite and £100 -£150 compared to £200ish worth it or am I better off just stumping up the extra and buying the canon speedlite.
Definately going to get one just the question is which.
At this precise moment in time I dont need it to be a master or really want to play with manual settings.

If you or anyone else can offer advice feel free or just ignore me if you cant be bothered its

It really depends on what do you want to use it for:A Here is a short video, hope it helps ( plenty of reviews on youtube).

It really depends. For your best advice, ask on Talk Photography, which is a lovely friendly forum with lots of people on there who know much than I!

I have a Fuji S9600 bridge and a collection of old/cheap flashguns (Jessops own brand £25 quid ones) which I use to a greater or lesser extent, and have been able to produce perfectly passable Pro Style portraits (Hi key, white background jobs as well as more formal looking shots, saves me a fortune on School photos) so they don't make that much difference.

I do know that if you want the flash to E-TTL with the camera (something I cant do) then using a flash that will do this will make you shots easier. If I am correct, Jessops did do an own brand one which you coule get used on fleabay which would be a good introduction to flash and you could then sell on again so is not going to cost you much.
You could then splash on a Canon one when you are more familiar with what you will shoot and what settings you need.

Don't forget to bounce the flash when inside, and instead of a Stofen Diffuser (££££) an empty Carex liquid soap bottle (take flash to T's and check the size of your flash) which is empty and the top cut off)

My camera doesn't even have a built in flash :D

I usually 'paint' the light in with a torch etc if needs be :)

    Like so:

Painting with light is a great art! V hard to do, but lots of fun. I like it when people combine it with long shutter speeds of stars, and then use a poweful torch to paint a building at the same time.

HMV.com now has the administration notice and Deloitte finally appointed as administrators - they have still been selling through the site all day!

    * wonders out loud if order placed yesterday with e-vouchers will be honoured * :(
