    Hello to everyone

I’m relatively new to all this and only been here for a couple of months, so I’m not too sure of all the ins and outs here. I just have a quick question I wondered if anyone could be kind enough to answer for me. I did a T’s order online on Wednesday and, along with other items, I ordered 3 Vimto Cordials 1.5LT @ £1.53 each. My order was delivered on Thursday and I have been charged £2.65 a bottle (I would have only ordered one bottle at this price if I had known) I didn’t know this could happen and I thought I would be charged the price I ordered it at! TIA

It looks like the price has changed I'm afraid. At any rate it's certainly showing £2.65 on tesco.com today. I'm not an expert on online delivery - since the delivery charges rarely make it better value for me and for the reason you've given, that prices can be different on the day of delivery although you can then refuse the item on delivery but then you're paying the delivery charge for less than what you originally ordered. However - I think it's the same with all supermarket online operations - the price will be the price that applies on the date of the delivery, not the date you placed the order.

This is fully in the T&Cs which few of us bother to read or have the time to do so. It's also why the basket price is called a "guide price" - it's just a guide, based on today's prices, those at the time of your order.

You should have checked the bill when the delivery was made and refused the items at that price. However, it's easy to talk in hindsight.

Nonetheless, why should you pay twice as much for a third of what you wanted? You shouldn't even have stuck with Vimto 1.5L - often an offer finishes on one size of a product only to begin on another size. It seems to be one of the ways how the supermarkets make their money, as people generally don't keep changing sizes and switching and switching around, following the offers, and end up paying more.

As no consolation at all, the Vimto 1.5L cordial was on my personal Sains v T list, to buy in S towards a brand match back against T, but I didn't actually end up buying the Vimto on any of my shops (whether in S or in T) as I thought that, even at the T's reduced price, it was still way too expensive for the amount got. I'd have bought the normal Vimto fizzy 2L, Av M when M was 67p a while back. M were £1.35 last week, but M aren't £1.35 anymore, this week they're £1. But it's not good enough for me compared to the comparison (and 10% cheaper) vs 67p some time ago, so I'm not buying it.

Of course this isn't the cordial. I'd have been doing the own-brand cordials or possibly a branded version depending on what was on MSM.co.uk and what flavour I wanted.

Sorry you ended up with 3 bottles of expensive cordial. If you are not able to return them for a refund, it may be worth entering your receipt details into the PP website in case M have this cordial and at much cheaper (though I don't think they do unfortunately) - this only applies outside Northern Ireland as M don't operate there - unfortunately this cordial size is N/A in A (as far as I'm aware) and same price in S.

I hope you are able to get a refund, saying you were charged way more than you expected. If not, or either way, take this as experience to do better from next time. Good luck.

Thank you so much for your in-depth reply Savvybuyer I do appreciate it. If I had realised on delivery that I had been charged so much for the Vimto I think I would have refused it but the driver was in a bit of a rush so just hurried in with my shopping and then was gone! :( I do looove Vimto though :)

    Is it just me:

I feel posher when I wear a pearl necklace (fake will do)

I feel more pretty and mumsy when I wear a frilly apron round the house

I find listening to the Archers on Radio 4 therapeutic

I have started turning my nose up at sales that are less than 70% off !!

I take great delight in seeing my kids tucking into a meal I have cooked
