£800 Ring lost in post

I was going on this sentence
"we returned it as the instructions said... Fill in the form, use the envelope provided, get proof of postage from your Post Office."
If you did what Argos said and then it got lost in the post, then Argos cannot complain. I don't get why people are questioning the method of posting. That's all irrelevant if you returned as the instructions said. One important thing to remember is that when you get to the end of this sentence, you'll realise it's just my sig.0 -
Start exploring the possibility of a charge-back.
The item arrived back, Argos are claiming "you have to prove this" the post office say it arrived back.
I would say the benefits of giving them any doubt are running out.
£800 is at stake here, I would be contacting the card company sooner rather than later.Be happy...;)0 -
Thanks so much - never thought about sorting it out through the cc company. So handy to have another avenue to chase thank you.I love surprises!0

Thank you
I felt so stupid for doing exactly as I was told having no information etc but it's nice to know that I'm not totally naive

For me, if it was sent by a method that meant it was signed for on delivery and not just proof of postage it gives the OP much more leverage to get her refund sooner rather than later, i.e. no waiting for it to 'turn up' etc.
Yes we know that the OP followed the return instructions but you never know what these companies put in their small print, and you can not be too careful IMO.0 -
Just be warned, getting past the goon that answers the phone with the credit card company takes some doing and insistence.
I think they get a gold star appraisal for everyone they fob off.Be happy...;)0 -

Possibly true!
I had to write to my cc company when I wanted to do a charge back with all the details, they would not do it over the phone.0 -
No need to contact the credit card company until Argos flat out refuse a refund. You'll be wasting your time otherwise. One important thing to remember is that when you get to the end of this sentence, you'll realise it's just my sig.0

Yes, but it may push Argos along in giving the refund if they are dragging their heels. You can advise them that if it is not forthcoming you will be asking your cc to do a chargeback.
That is what happened in my case. I wrote a letter to the CC company with a copy to the company and I got my refund straightaway.0
