I want to move away from Sky talk & BB

You might squeeze a bit more out of that line by following penrhyn's advice, but it's not any fault of Sky's; you are on the limit for ADSL due to line length.
Only fibre is going to give you a significant speed boost. No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -
So, after your advice, I have taken the plunge & gone for the Plusnet Fibre unlimited with home phone.
When I get home I now have the unenviable task of trying to extract my MAC code from Sky. There appears to be a lot of conflicting stories, some say you don't need a MAC, some say you can't transfer your phone line.
I was just wondering what I should say to sky when I call, should they try delaying or underhand tactics.0 -
You don't need a MAC if you are moving from LLU. You may have to have a new line and phone number though.
What do PlusNet say? That gum you like is coming back in style.0 -
Sky LLU to Plusnet should not require a new line provision or number. Plusnet is non-LLU, s it's not an LLU to LLU transfer, which is usually the problematic one.No free lunch, and no free laptop0

Thanks for the replies.
I phoned Sky last night and asked for my MAC, they said it can take 24 hours to generate & they will email it & send it in the post within 5 working days. They asked why I was leaving, so I told them that when I checked through my upgrade option on my account area, Sky fibre was not available to me, they didn't make me any offers to stay. The upgrade option for Sky fibre had been available previously, but seems to come & go.
Anyhow, I have read many posts on here & on Sky's own forum that there have been problems with Sky tagging the line, not sending the MAC & generally being difficult. I'm hoping that this will not be the case.0 -
I'm still waiting for the promised MAC. In the mean time, should I have given notice to cancel or anything?0

They have 5 working days to supply a MAC, you'll have to be patient. No, don't give notice. If you do. that will make your MAC invalid. No free lunch, and no free laptop0
