Ask Atos Healthcare disability assessment questions

  • Atos Healthcare will attempt to obtain information from a GP in cases where a healthcare professional feels advice could be provided to the Department for Work and Pensions without the need for a face to face assessment. This is particularly the case for those with the most disabling conditions which may potentially place them in the Support Group for Employment and Support Allowance.

In that case it is very strange then because I am in the support group. ATOS/DWP has failed to obtain info from my doc / specialist and now I have been called in for a medical. So what you are saying really doesn't add up.
What's the bet i get strewed over by ATOS (like i did last time) and my money is stopped. I'll let you know.

thanks for trying to help but this isn't exactly what i am on about , i am asking whether a person with ME and fibromyalgia is seen by a doctor or a nurse in a WCA .

    Whichever happens to be picked.
    Fibro/me is not special.
One of my assessments (me) has been with a doctor, the other a nurse.

Thanks for that info Richie, we will be asking for a home visit next time due to the lack of disabled access. The ramps they got out were way too steep, I really struggled to get the wheelchair up them, thankfully a nice security man pushed me up when I got half way lol. But it shouldn't have happened that way. In all honesty I think even an able bodied person (I have dodgy knees and a dead arm) would have struggled to get up that ramp, as for self propellers? Not unless they had muscles like the hulk.

A hidden element of the ESA50 (like the way a so called Atos "healthcare professional" can assess you as being able to use an imaginary wheelchair!) is that if you can make it into the processing centre then Atos deem you fit for work!! :D

I see this thread is slowly going down hill. I hope its not removed before the Atos rep gets into the full swing and starts to actually answer the questions completely.

Well so far the Atos "Rep" has just stuck to what you can more or less find on their website. So any thought that they will deviate from the company line is somewhat fanciful.

Roger are you allowed to ask what qualifications the person assessing you has?

:mad:How long does the revision of a decision take , I wonder if I would have been as well going straight to appeal.

    Hi,

Atos Healthcare aren't involved in the decision making process so don't have this information, so I'm afraid I can't help with this. You'll need to get the answer from DWP.

    Hi everyone

it's great that lots of questions are coming through, but due to the volume please bear with us.

The questions won't necessarily be answered in order, so don't think that you won't get an answer just because someone who asked a question after you has received one.

    Thanks for your patience

If Atos aren't involved in the decision making process what is their purpose then?
  • How do I find the name of the person who interrogated me, the HCP . I have severe mental illness ,and received 0 points and this person was probably not a DR . she didn't know what most of my Meds were . she didnt know the type of cancer I had . she conducted the interview in the dark as she had a headache !!.

Actually I'm hoping that fact has helped us this time schrodie. DD is waiting for wheelchair assessment. The ATOS doc stated that she didn't think the dd would be able to self propel because of her wrist/shoulder problems, so went to speak to her colleague and terminated the assessment.

But I know what you mean, a virtual wheelchair is a bit daft :) I really can't see any self propeller being able to make it into their Glasgow office without help.
