Number plate spacing
Many years ago I bought my son a cherished plate FE 8455, we have transferred many times without a problem. He has now bought a brand new car and the garage has put the plate on as
FE8 455, they insist this is correct, I hope it's not!
I have rung DVLA and they say they think FE 8455 is correct but maybe I should check with the police.
Does anyone which is correct before I continue to discuss with the garage to make up new number plates.
Thank you

The space should be between the letters and numbers so FE 8455 is correct.0

Wikipedia's page on number plates suggests that those of the type you have were issued originally as a one or two letter code followed by a sequence number from 1 to 9999. To me that would mean the garage's spacing is definitely wrong, with the only acceptable options being
FE 8455 and FE8455.

FE 8455 it should be, although mine is spaced illegally and I've never been pulled on it, as common sense says it can still be read.

Common sense would suggest that the spacing should be the same as what's on the V5 document, but others have already quoted more authoritative instructionsWe need the earth for food, water, and shelter.
The earth needs us for nothing.
The earth does not belong to us.

As with all the above, it should be FE 8455.
FE8 455 is misrepresentation and could land you a £60 ticket if stopped.Make everything as simple as possible, but not simpler.0 -
If the garage won't play ball an you are happy with advice on here get them off eBay. Cheap and fast delivery. No need for v5 or any of that stuff.0
