Jessops possibly about to go into Administration
Comments

I bought my digital SLR from Jessops 18 months ago because when I went to see them they were knowledgable and helped me decide which one to go for. The people I spoke to made 100 times more sense than any internet forum had made in the previous few months of asking for recommendations.
I paid a bit over the odds but quite frankly I didn't mind paying for the service they provided me at the time. I must have been in there an hour looking at cameras. There are some things in life it's worth paying a bit more for, and in this case I was happy to pay a bit more for the good advice and service they gave.
I know most people would say I should have taken the advice and bought online but I'm quite old fashioned in certain regards.vikingaero wrote: »The worst thing nowadays about buying instore is the hard sell on extended warranties. I think we shouldn't be too negative here, and suggest the shutters may be pulled down on their stores - we need to wait to see what develops. Apparently the administrators have asked for a snapshot of their accounts, so they can get the big picture. Maybe with the right focus, they can reduce their exposure to internet competition."You were only supposed to blow the bl**dy doors off!!"0

Same here - spend a good hour with them going through different Bridge cameras before selecting. Simply couldn't then walk away and buy it online.
Also helped that they took Tesco vouchers!0 -

This situation hasn't come about overnight. See my post (number 11) in a previous thread last June.

You obviously missed the joke entirely..."You were only supposed to blow the bl**dy doors off!!"0 -
Can't believe how lucky I have been! Was looking at Jessops special offer of the Canon 550D with the 18-55mm and 75-300mm lenses for £449.99. it was a buy online offer. Called into the local Jessops to have look and feel of the camera and said to the lady assistant that I liked it and would have to go home and order it online. She said "Hang on a second, I will see if we have one in the stock room" Sure enough there was one which I bought there and then and took home. Two days later the shop was closed. If I had ordered online I would probably have lost my money! Thanks to the helpful lady assistant, I have my camera, just a shame that she has lost her job!0
