Thats sad, but they are pricey. My local one is always busy but its no doubt browsers having a play before going home to order online.
I popped in the other day as I wanted a Sandisk Ultra 32GB microSDHC Card for my phone, Jessops price £49.99, Amazon £19.98 delivered free! I just can't afford to 'donate' £30!!!
I suspect Staples can't have long either, it used to be cheap but even on basics like paper they are undercut now and its quetier than a Chernobyl library whenever I go in.
The only retail that stands a chance now is the ones that offer something online shopping can't, Argos survive because you can go and get it now. Buying clothes online is awkward as you need to try stuff on so that has a future.
Furniture should be viable, you need to try that first too.0 -
One I'm sad for - used to spend a lot in there (one of their key problems) in the days when people still used film and I had the time to furtle around in darkrooms. Think losing the niche as the high street chain feeding the photographic consumables market hit them hard - apart from the random independents there wasn't many other options to get darkroom chemicals and photographic paper from in most towns.Little miracle born April 2012, 33 weeks gestation and a little toughie!0

Never bought a thing from Jessops. Had a look around a couple of times but their prices are unjustifiable and I won't be sad to see them go as harsh as it sounds.0

Shameful. their website is still up and selling. Difficulty with Jessops is that they are or were a one trick pony which was fine years ago but come the internet and widespread competition in sale of camera kit, they couldnt hack it.Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..0

PwC have just confirmed they're the administrators, looks like it a done deal.
Shame to see another major photography store go down, never really used Jessops because they were overpriced most of the time.0 -
Feel very sorry for the employees.0

It would be sad if they go especially for the staff but as said they rarely offer competitive pricing on top of that the economy being so bad, internet shopping and failing sales in cameras as more people are using mobile and cameras.0
