In what way were you mislead in your loan application.

I think the OP is saying the bank mislead themselves by giving them a loan after seeing some non-existent RBS bank statements.

Heard about the new courdroy pillows?
    They're making headlines.
  • I've witnessed these kinds of group badgering's before with other people on other forums.

I have enough sense to leave it, but I too am interested in your replies. It is a symptom of the isolation of our modern lives. Everything turns into a school yard 'I told you so'. 'God you must be stupid if you did that, I didn't do that, I would have done this coz I'm clever coz my mam said so and you smell anyway' haha

Let's see what else you bored people can come up with?

You still haven't said in which way you were mislead in the granting of the loan.

Mis-sold PPI is not comparable to making a loan application and that application being accepted.

The bank employee may have filled in incorrect information, but you still applied for the loan and you were accepted. You should have assessed if you could afford repayments yourself.
From the limited information the more recent offer from the bank appears more than fair.

You say in your first post that the employee put you deeper in to debt (although I see you possibly dispute whether you were in debt on a later post). But when you left that meeting with the bank you were not further in debt. True you had a loan for £7500, but also had £7500 more sat in your bank account. You also had 14 days to change your mind if after you left you felt you had been pressured in to applying for a loan, or had on reflection decided if wasn't the best financial option for you.

    I went in to my local Lloyds......they offered me a loan......took 7500.

......they didn't take my OD off me or my credit card.

So, why didn't you use those 7.5 k to pay back your overdraft and your credit card?
  • ILW, I wasn't misled, the loan was mis-sold. possibly. That was my question.

I went into the bank feb 2008 because I didnt' have enough money coming in from my self employed earnings. I wanted to increase my OD but they said I was cleared for a loan of up to 20000. This surprised me as I'd had very little in that year. My dad died in feb 2007 of kidney cancer and I gave up looking for work and hit the bottle. I destroyed my relationship and we split the following feb. I was near broke of income, not crippling debt.

I went to the bank and they offered me money which I blindly took. I only needed about £1000, but they gave me a minimum of £7500. I just needed some money so i could move.

My main point is, that the loan was offered on my credit rating. My income was never checked. He claimed I showed him RBS statements. I did not. Now, of course I made use of the money. I had none! I lived of that money for a year, added to my credit cards, and OD and failed to generate any income. Now if my income had actually been accessed, it would have been refused. I was not in the best place, and I went under financially and also into a big depression. I've only just come right in the last 2 years.

I wasn't mis-led, but the bank has a responsibility to it's customers too. More fool the bank that I couldn't afford to pay them back, but I believe they know I should never have been given the loan in the first place.
  • This letter from me to the bank goes back over 2 years now.

    Bengal, you've mis-understood.

I never said i was in debt, but what is debt? ANY amount? Sure I had a few hundred on a CC and OD. I don't consider this debt. This was managable, I simply had no money coming in.

My current partner works for Lloyds. She knows my situation at the time. She would never have cleared a person in my situation for a loan, and has a responsibility to the bank, not to either.

this guy was later sacked for mis-selling. Did you all miss this bit??
  • Just to add, I suppose NONE of you have requested any PPi?

Now that would be interesting to know.

    I've never requested PPI . . .

    . . . not sure why it's particularly interesting though . .
