Problem With Hotel Booking
Comments
-
Just to update about the booking--got things sorted out--spoke to both the hotel and the 3rd party internet hotel company(Booking.com).
Taj Mahal Hotel were very good and advised me to ring customer services at Booking.com and confirm that I had made a request for twin beds whilst making the booking---Booking.com were also helpful and confirmed that request was made and they sorted out the twin bed room request.
Thanks to all the people who gave some positive advise--unlike some negative remarks who just want to remind me "you did book a double"- Booking.com had no problems agreeing that l had asked for twin beds when making the booking --and were sorry that the special request was overlooked.
But...you did book a double and dont be shocked if when you arrive at the hotel they only have doubles available, unlikely now that you have been in touch but still possible as no request is gaurenteed0 -

Just had a email from Booking.com---
"We have contacted The Taj Mahal Palace & Tower and S****a in reservations has informed the request is confirmed for twin room as per the your requirements.
Shortly, you will receive a new email modification confirmation of your reservation.
Thank you again for choosing Booking.com.
We wish you an enjoyable stay at The Taj Mahal Palace & Tower.
Kind regards,"
Booking.com
Should be okay as they have confirmed now.
Photome--I was after a bit of advise-not just some people stating the obvious "you booked a double---"you requested a twin"-then putting -" eh"--(Bob the Saver)-People come on here to get help and advise--not for others to put you down--If they havent got anything good to advise they shouldnt post a reply.0 -

the fact they have recognized your request does bode well but it is still only a request.
had a quick look on the taj website and couldnt find a twin room listed (do they even have them)0 -
Yeah they do have twin rooms.
I rang Taj reservation and acted as if I wanted to book a room on the actual dates I was going, then asked if it was possible for a twin room. The agent said there was twin rooms available for the dates I wanted.I then explained the problem i was having. He then advised me to go back and ask booking.com to ring the hotel to change my booking to twin beds. They rang and let Taj know, and everything was sorted.0 -
Glad you got it sorted but the point remains that you *requested* twin beds and that there is never a guarantee your request is honoured. Based on your posts I'm still not sure if you understand this. There was really no advice that could be offered given your first post since you said the hotel told you there were no twin beds available.0

The question remains, why the heck did you book a double?0
-
Why would you book a double but then request a twin? i'm confused?0

To be fair, I've booked a few double rooms, then get to the second page (with Booking.com and others) and get a drop-down window asking for room preference. I then click on "twin". I do carefully research the hotel first though, to make sure twin rooms are available.Normal people worry me.0

But aren't requests normally dealt with upon arrival? So having twin rooms still won't mean the request will be granted...it could be, but not necessarily guaranteed.Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0
