!!!!!! annoys me how companies will put out the stops as soon as someone complains on forums/social. Voda have done nothing wrong but will probably appease the OP just because it's public. !!!!!!

Tesco Mobile do 1000 mins, 5000 sms and 2gb for £15 a month if you're out of contract.
If that's not enough they also do 3000 mins + sms and data for £20

Why should anyone give you sympathy when you bleat on about crap like "It is so irresponsible that they allow you to rack up these monstrous bills and don't even give you a warning that you are going over your limit"?

    Grow up.

this isn't the first example where the Network has mislead the customer into believing the 'Network's credit limit' was a 'customer requested spend limit'.

May be it's time the Government forced the Networks to allow customer requested spend limits as they do in other European countries.

How saying that "they don't do that anymore" was even in the slightest degree "mislead into believing"?!

It isn't, unless you have some sort of crazy opinion, or haven't actually read the OP.

to be honest what the OP posted seemed a bit odd to me and I'm not too sure what the OP was intending to mean.
I assumed she bought the phone some time ago and recently spoke to 'someone'.

irrespective of what the OP meant I still stand by my main point that customers have been mislead(and I am not saying that that 'misleading' had been intentional) by various staff into believing that 'credit caps' are 'consumer spend limits'.

and I do believe it's now time (especially now with potentionally huge data charges) that the Government should force Networks to allow customers to have their own spend limits as they already do in some European countries.

You could request to move onto Vodafone's red tariffs which offer unlimited minutes as standard. It wont give you the £200 back but will help you avoid this in future.

How on earth have you managed to run up a bill of 200 quid in one month? Were you ever off the damn thing?

Those of us that work for ourselves can do that in a month without thinking; my 10th December to 10th January was just over £380, and that's about average.

I do, however, appreciate that OP probably won't be using a phone in the same situation, but this was over 61 hours of calls across the month (although about half of them were to abroad)
