    Thanks sillygoose

I have a samsung note 10.1 which my son is constantly using so want to get him his own only a cheaper unit.

He uses it mainly for youtube, watching minecraft & fifa videos.
Downloading a few games & surfing the net.

How does this compare to those you suggested?

    http://www.amazon.co.uk/10-1-FUSION5-COMPACT-4CORE-TABLET/dp/B00EVV1SAA/ref=cm_cr_pr_pb_t

    Appreciate your input here :-)
    Thanks

Looks like you found a good sale price deal there! I have suggested Fusion5 tablets before and no one has moaned at me. ;)

More than enough for Minecraft, one of my kids plays Minecraft perfectly well even on a cheap single core tablet - its one of those funny games that doesn't actually need a lot of main computer power but needs the graphic processor power to render the worlds and almost all tablets have pretty good ones.

Looks like a UK seller too.

5AH battery is decent enough, would usually be wanting something in the 5 to 6AH range at least for a tablet like this.

Just be careful, the Fusion5's tend to sell out quite quick and I suspect this won't be around long at this price.

Got impatient & plumbed for the Archos you suggested but still sealed so option to return if needs be.
Cash back offer to redeem plus £10 O2 priority moments.
Was the one I found on par with the Archos?

    £36 Tablet:

    http://www.microdirect.co.uk/Home/Product/58329/Storage-Options-Scroll-Essential-Tablet-PC--

    Specs:

    http://www.storageoptions.com/products/scroll/tablets/scroll-essential-ii

    Further information from me:

I'd been looking for a very cheap tablet to pick up and have a play with for a while now, amongst some of the other Christmas deals on tablets that have come and gone I found this one at Micro Direct (they're based in Manchester but will ship orders). Be aware that the tablet is factory refurbished so it is not brand new, however mine was physically in excellent condition as far as I can tell. I've used Micro Direct for 10+ years and they've always been excellent, however the tablet only comes with a Micro Direct 3 month warranty. Although, from past experience Micro Direct have always given me at the very least store credit no quibble on anything I've had to return, sometimes a cash refund, so I don't have any complaints.

The tablet itself is perfect for anyone looking to dabble or take one for a test run. I'm genuinely surprised at how acceptably the tablet performs so far - I've not yet comprehensively tested it, and I probably won't be doing any gaming on it but I imagine this is where it will struggle.

The screen looks OK, it's 7 inch and I *think* 16:9 ratio, making it quite long and narrow which is taking a bit of getting used to, but despite the low resolution it looks good. I did some research into Storage Options beforehand and the opinions on this particular tablet seemed to be mixed, however bearing in mind the price tag of £36 I think it is very good.

I'll also point out that one of the drawbacks with Storage Options tablets is that they don't ship with an active Google Play store (due to Google licensing) however it can be activated through a few different methods. However the tablet I purchased came with an active Google Play Store that seems to work perfectly, so perhaps it was activated during the factory refurb?

Overall I'd say if anyone is in the boat that I was in with wanting to dip your toe into the tablet pool this is worth a shot. I'm fully prepared for the fact that this tablet may be disposable (in that it's not the highest of quality, if even the battery needs replacing then it'll probably be as cheap to buy a similar tablet etc.) so you should probably be too if you buy one.

I'll also point out that Micro Direct are often slow at updating their website, so the number of items in stock on there shouldn't be taken as given, it's best to give them a call (the website said there were none of these tablets in so I called to see if they'd get any more in and apparently they already did).

I'll post something more substantial about the tablet when I've had more of a play with it, but if anyone has any specific questions please feel free to ask me and I'll see if I can help.

Well if its 'bang for your buck' you want the Fusion (apart from the screen) has the upper hand spec wise for certain. However I suspect the Archos will be better made and the software more polished. Archos have been making this sort of stuff a long time from the first portable media players, its packing as much processing power as a Samsung Tab so should be fine.
  • you get what u pay for , the fusion is a cheap chinese import which does its job well, mines lasted well but i would spend the extra and go for one from a retailer you know with a genuine guarantee.

This company a1cs which previously sold thgem on amazon dissepeared and reappeared as fusion.

Mine came with a faulty power supply which has been replaced twice, tablets been good for the money though.

you get what you pay for.

with the fusion, the backup and after care is provided by small local business.

if you buy a brand you pay more but have all the back up to go with it
