Ask if your offer has been put forward to the vendor.
Ultimately Walk away. He will be back next week if it is made up.0 -

How can I find out who they are so I can contact them direct?0 -
I dont know that you can really? Indeed, having sold a house this way, i.e. probate, the last thing I would want is individuals approaching me (even if they might indeed be in my best interests)0

That's a very good point. I guess it's best to just walk away from this one.0

This has got me thinking more and more. It was odd he didn't ask me to up my offer. Just said its off the market. Cash buyer completing in a week. Didn't return my call either.
Is there anyway of me finding out which solicitor is dealing with probate so I can contact direct to see if if my offer was even received?0 -

The asking price was £310,000 it was an old properly in need of a lot of work.
The agent said that the seller would take £300,000.
It's a bungalow- which the agent said you couldn't extend so did I really want to see it as he didn't want to waste his time so late in the evening. (This was last night)
My wife told him of our plans , side extension rear, and loft- much to my dismay. Even pointed out others had been done on the road etc,
I offered £300k. Agent calls back and says a cash buyer has offered £330k and can complete next week and so is off the market.
On top of that he has updated the advert to show "great investment property" and upped the asking to £349,000.
Is there anything I can do?
you can find yourself a shot-gun and go around his house with it0 -
Check ownership on LandReg, then make an enquiry to HMCS Probate office to find out the executor of the will.I am a mortgage broker. Knock on a neighbour's door and ask them if they have any contact for the relatives?
My friend bought a house which was being sold to pay for care home fees. The solicitor selling it was miles away and it appeared the estate agent wasn't trying as hard as he could to get a good price for the property. As luck had it, my friend had a friend who lived in that street and her mother had a key for the house. The agent had refused to show it to my friend as he had a sale progressing at a low price. Long and short, my friend gazumped the lower buyer by getting her friend's mother to contact the old lady's solicitor and told her what was going on. She was happy to pay another £12K over what the low buyer was offering.Make £2026 in 2026

On a positive note. Agent called today and said the cash buyer didn't appear to be reliable and my offer has been accepted.
Thank you for all your replies.
