Can you have three current accounts?

I have two current accounts already, one with Nationwide, (I have had a bank account there all my life 30 years, my wages from my part time job get paid in here) current over draft £300. One with Barclays, (the wages from my full time job go in here, over draft limit £2,400)

I wanted to open the Norwich and Peterborough light current account so that I can use it to access money whilst in america.

What are the chances of me being accpeted for a 3rd current account? I plan to close it as soon as I come back from America.

Also does it look bad on me in terms of credit score or anything?

I have 8 current accounts ( 7 opened in the last month) so i dont think you'll have any problems

I agree, having more than 2-3 accounts is quite common these and in my opinion normal, I have 3 myself

Normally wouldn't be a problem.

The only typical restrictions on opening accounts are those self-imposed by individual banks and the number of accounts you can hold with them - there's nothing in law or across institutions that imposes a limit on the number of accounts you may hold.

It'll only likely affect your credit score if you have/use an overdraft on the account. (Which you indicate you won't.)

Otherwise the only affect on your credit history (not score) will likely be a quick search on opening the account for verification which other companies won't see.

Actually I have them purely for the 3% interest paid, at ( LTSB and BOS )

I don't have a debit card, being able to do any necessary transactions online.

The N+P Gold Light account I opened last September is my 14th current account.

I will probably be fine with 3 then. I filled in the application form today so i will have to wait and see.
