Solar ... In the news

Fingers crossed for new power records, but April and October may be the peaks, with clear skies and cold temps.
Hopefully, much of the minimum gas figures are due to supply/demand issues, and some boilers being kept hot for contracted fast demand response. Storage (and greater RE supply) could displace those issues at times, going forward.
Been a fun decade so far for RE leccy, but the second half could be shocking.

That's an interesting point. Looking at my own data, last summer my peak day saw 46kWh and I've already achieved 43kWh this year suggesting there's not a vast improvement to come (less than 10%). So I guess the gains in longer days and sun higher in the sky are offset by higher temperatures and lower efficiency.

just looking round were i live there is a lot of new solar panels being put up ,storage too .The most since the govt cut the Fit rates

Sorry Ned, may be talking at cross purposes, but not meant as pedantry (honest). The new record is a power record, not an energy record. I expect daily energy to keep rising (on average), but other than new capacity deployments, peak power may be around now.
That said, I seem to remember a surprisingly cold early June period a few years ago(?), with good winds too. I think we all saw some high power figures then, resulting in monster generation.

Interesting to see the Agile 24 hour bar chart and how the prices correlate with solar as much as overnight wind in the winter.
My car battery is full of negative priced electricity at the moment, and after a trip tomorrow looks like I'll be able to top it up with the same on Sunday.

I wonder how long it will be before we see negative rates for our midday solar exports as is already happening in parts of the Australian grid. Spot prices were negative from around 10am to 5pm on 7th April.

If Octopus Agile prices for tomorrow are anything to go by, we'll have an even more extreme case. And the 2330 slot makes me think that Sunday migh be another.
