    1. Next attempted to contact you to arrange an alternative payment, you missed the call, so they cancelled the order.

    2. And, even though you're so miffed, you're only going to "consider different stores"?! I think you're a bit addicted to Next. Do people really still queue outside stores for an hour?[/QUOTE]

    1. They can hold items in a shopping bag for 5 days, but called me just once on sunday at 10.00am does that even count as making a call? Jesus i might have been i a toilet for god sakes....why not to send me an emai? But choose to send me a letter by post even though the order can be hold for 5 days? and yes, mail does travel faster then in 5 days ..during Christmas time...and got lost, but that is not their problem...Funny :)

    2. why are you so nasty? and why on earth do you think I am addicted? Yes I like NEXT clothing for kids. No I don't buy every single month and yes i was standing by the store at 6 in the morning because some people like to save when buying clothing for two kids. Why is this a crime or why would it be called addiction?

I am doing more reading of the Unfair contract terms act and will regardless try to challenge these terms with the Ofice of fair trading. Thank you all for your thoughts :)

    Eh?

What's that got to do with a company not wanting to offer you stuff on tick?

What about that by canceling my order and waiting to notify me until the sale was over they restricted my rights to buy on sale? The sale is for everyone isn't it? But because of their actions I was not able to get items from their store.

What about their ability to cancel orders at any time, but once i make a purchase and if those items are in stock i no longer have a right to cancel them, just return after getting them? But on their side they can do what ever they want until the items are dispatched.

    Just some statistics:
In October my credit limit was 150.00 pounds (that is when I opened my account with Next). That month I have made purchases for a total of 16.49 pounds. The balance was paid on November 1st, 2012 in full. In November 2012 I did not made any purchases yet still on November 29th, 2012 my credit was increased to 900.00 pounds. On December 7th I bought items for the total of 25.99 pounds. I was still waiting for the statement and on December 22nd, 2012 I entered VIP sale and bought additional items. After that day, my credit was reduced to 30.00 pounds and because they called me once and I have missed that one phone call they cancelled my order. Seems to me that “their right to alter credit limit at any time” is being used in a very nasty and unfair to the customer way.

I have a Next account and if I order something even if I pay it off they reduce my credit limit to 0 and then raise it the month after. Its bizarre. If you want these things just pay them off. Next accounts are not much use for lots of purchases. Well in my opinion. That being said; it sounds like you have had a right nightmare. I hope you can get something :) out of this situation.

So I went to CAB today.. In their opinion: if i have time and energy I should pursue with trying to make them responsible for this credit altering business. But....and I quote: "Next is a big company with a lot of customers and this is why they don't care if they loose some." :D I was advised to wait for their (Next) reply to my complaint and then go to the next step... And maybe contacting Office of fair trading to review Next's terms and conditions.
  • I can shed some light on the fluctuating credit limits. I queried this with Next when my limit suddenly went to 0 after being £900 for several months. They said that they get your credit score every month from the credit agencies (I'm presuming Experian?) and adjust your credit limit according to the credit score. The month I went to 0, I had made a few credit applications so my score was low due to all the searches on my credit file.
If your limit is changing all the time, this probably means there has been a lot of activity on your credit file. Mine has stayed £1000 for months now. Its annoying I agree when it suddenly changes without warning, but as has been said, Next Directory is really better used for one or two occasional purchases.
I don't think this is worth spending your energy on. The terms and conditions have been quoted and Next can change your limit. Also, Next didn't stop you buying anything in the sale. That was your decision, all be it you were unaware at the time of the cancelled purchases. Sometimes, these things happen to all of us, you've kind of just got to move on.
I agree it would have been helpful for Next to e-mail you about the cancelled purchases, but I don't think it's something to go to OFT about. Good on you though for getting a meeting with CAB, I've found that near on impossible.

Can you point out the rights that are being violated please? :p

The right to know where you stand when you are placing an order, these could be Christmas or Birthday presents.

Out of interest why don't you pay with a credit card? and get cashback (Aqua) even if your credit is not tip top.

But i don't have any credit cards nor did I applied for any of those...Come to think of it I might have applied for overdraft with my bank...but that was couple of months ago..
Thanks anyway for a nice answer :)
