Hi, this is the Daily Thread for 6th January 2013 - . This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.
Morning all
Hugs to Jools, LW & Molly
Happy B'day NMLC & belated birthday wishes to Rachel
BB, you have my sympathy, lol.
LW, I always think you come across as warm & caring, not cold at all
Well 3am seems to be the new wake up time of choice and the alarm of choice seems to be a coughing fit or a sneezing fit, oh well it will pass. I've had my shower, packup's packed, fish fed & I'm sat here with porridge & a cuppa & some painkillers, but I don't need to set off for work for ages yet.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs Hester

Hugs Hester - hope you have a good day xxI must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.0 -
Good morning all,
Very damp and miserable here today.
Girls were up nice and early. Back to school today. I go back to work tomorrow.
Rachel, happy belated birthday to you for yesterday :bdaycake:
nmlc, :bdaycake:happy birthday, hope you have a great day.
Hester, hope you feel better soon. Hope work is ok.
BB, thankyou for asking after dd. She had her injections on the 28th. They only did one eyebrow and she has to go back in 6 weeks time to have the other eyebrow done. No sign of any growth yet. Most of her eyelashes are out again, onwards and upwards.
Wm is on, that will go on the airer. Will have a good hoover through when everyone has gone.
Tea tonight is chicken breasts in breadcrumbs (when i whizz some breadcrumbs up), hm wedges and salad.
I hope everyone has a good day and hugs to those who need them.

Hope you feel better soon, Hester x
Happy Birthday NMLC x
Eldest back at school and youngest has nursery. Horrible getting up today. We've been so lazy in the holidays. I may have to pour water over the eldest to get her out if bed!
Need to make a doctors appointment for middle child who says he can't hear out of his right ear. Ives also got so much housework to catch up on.
Dinner tonight is leftovers from our cooked dinner yesterday for me and Himself. The children have egg based meals.
Right, must try and get the children up. Again.
Love ((hugs)) and spoons

Dark and damp here this morning but Jack and Loki enjoyed their early walk. Off to school , who will be more reluctant the staff or the children? House pretty tidy and washing up to date so not much to do tonight. Have quilting club if I have the energy to go. Hugs to all in need esp Jools, unclebryn, LW and Molly

Morning everyone
Hugs to those that need/want them that are having a hard/sad time at the moment x
Just getting light but looking to be dry here this morning. DH up and off to work stupid early.
Lunch yesterday was roast chicken and all the trimmings, went down very nicely. Had a very chilled day, had a play with our new laptop, think it's going to take me a while to get used to it! Was nice and relaxing, nice start to my week off!
Boys on last day of their holidays as it's a teacher training day, so have decided to go to next town to return an unwanted prezzie and whilst we're there we'll have some brekkie. Don't need to be out to long but will have a quick look in my favourite shops. Will also visit a bathroom showroom that we've found, need to start getting some prices for the bathroom re-fit - it needs doing, I've decided that we'll be having an electric shower fitted over the bath so that we have another shower in the house not just my ensuite.
Would prefer a separate shower cubicle but the bathroom isn't big enough to accomodate one so will have shower fitted over the bath.
Not sure what we will be having for dinner tonight, will decide whilst we're out, there's a really big new MrS been built at the next town that was opened just before Xmas, will be calling in there to have a look whilst we're out today.
Have a great day everyone, stay safe and well x

Morning all, positive vibes Hester xxxx
Last night I poured boiling water over my foot by mistake, but it hampered my tidying up last night as it was so painful. So DW on this morning, just finishing coffee and then I will put the washing on the airer, then I willbe getting DS2 up as he is at school today. I would like to be out in the garden today clearing up, but it will depend if I can get a shoe on! Dinner tonight will be left over roast lamb with cauliflower cheese. Sounds odd,but that's what needs using up today.
Have ironing to be done and tidying up if I don't make it out today. Will see. Back to the diet too!Me, OH, grown DS, (other DS left home) and Mum (coming up 80!). Considering foster parenting. Hints and tips on saving £ always well received. Xx
March 1st week £80 includes a new dog bed though £63 was food etc for the week.0 -
Morning all:j:j
I hope that I find you all well, I know some of you are as I see your posts on facebook,
Lou's little man looks like hes comming on well, from the photos that she posts, A very pound mum there,
I posted some more photos of the twins up on facebook a few days aga for anyone who wont's to have a look.
I was very sorry to read the facebook post from the day who's little girl past away yesterday morning from a brain tumor. I had seen following her story the same as some of you on here.
Very sad but but from what Iv read brain tumors In children year on year are on there way up. Most can be trated but there are always the ones that can not.:(
I had a bad day yesterday:mad: no were near as bad as above but it did make me mad.
I had my DLA medical yesterday. Now I have had one before so I know how they should go.
This doctor came, was only here for 15 mins he did not really seem interested In what I had to say. He did a few tests and then said that he would finnish the report later and left. He did not even write the findings of the tests down.
Last time I had this medical the doctor that came was here for just under on hour and went really in depth with me.
I don't have much hope of getting anything this time.
Today Im going to give the Hospital a ring to see how close I am to going In. I don't mind if they are not planning to have me in untill the end of feb. Time is not really a problem apart from I hate waiting. It just the Not knowing anything that gets me.
Well I hope that you all have a great day!
Enjoy:j:j:jYou can have everything you wont in lfe, If you only help enough other people to get what they wont.:j0 -
Morning All
DH has had to go to work on his bike this morning, irriat left his lights on last night so a nice flat battery awaited him this morning  so it is sitting in the utility room charging. Oh well it will save on diesel and might get him fit, he has already said that he wants to use it more on the good days in the Spring and Summer, Winter is a different matter because if it is icy or snowing it is a really steep hill and treacherous to say the least and car drivers don't think bike, especially in the dark.
DS has just got up and is in the shower, because he is back at college, the schools have teacher training so do not open until tomorrow.
Not much planned for today, knees and hands are giving me hell, which usually means a change in the weather
So it is going to be a pottering sort of day.
LW I don't think that you are cold, you care about animals and that makes you a warm person in my book x
Happy Birthday nmlc :bdaycake:
Jools I hope that you are ok x
halight I think that all of us on DLA don't hold out much hope this year the joke of an assessment is despicable. I am taking my friend with me, who is a solicitor and helped me to get DLA in the first place, I am also asking for it to be recorded. I don't know why they have to change it, it has always been the hardest benefit to get and has nothing to do with working, it is to pay for the extra expenses that have to be met when you have a disabilityBlessed are the cracked for they are the ones that let in the light
