Why don't people freecycle boys clothes?
Comments

I tend to find only baby clothes on free cycle.
I never see them offered on my freecycle and when I have asked for stuff for my daughter I never get a response, I always say please and say Im only looking for stuff she can wear to nursery and get dirty. My daughter grows so fast shes out of her clothes before Ive finished buying them (shes 3 but wears clothes for 5-6 years).S.P.C member 1662 - target £3000 -
have you tried mumsnet? sometimes people offer stuff on there.0

I think boys tend to have less clothes than girls just because the whole industry is geared towards cute and flowery girls clothes and boys don't have much variety either in terms of colour (grey, brown, blue are the boys staples) or style (joggers and jeans).
In my case because I try and buy nice and original clothes for boys which cost a bit more, I try and resell them (on ebay) when they no longer fit rather than just giving them away.0 -
When I was clearing out my old house I had a few things I didn't want to move, a friend of a friend has just moved into digs with no furniture or TV, I had both to give him for free. He turned up and was the most ungrateful, fussy person I've ever dealt with (and I've dealt with a lot).Actually that's a good point. I gave up with my local freegle group after endless no shows. It was quicker for me to just take everything to a charity shop and be done with it.
Next time I gave to charity too, the charity ended up getting more for a couple of larger items than I paid for them new..0 -
I wouldn't respond to your wanted ads simply because it sort of sounds like you think you're entitled to 'hand me downs' and free things..
Have you tried hospice charity shops or independant charity shops, I see loads of boys clothes and the prices always seem more reasonable than the 'big' charities.Paying off CC in 2011 £2100/£1692

I think most people know someone (family or friends) to hand down to. Or sell off the premium branded bits on eBay.They deem him their worst enemy who tells them the truth. -- Plato0

In the past i have given alot away on freecycle (dining table / chairs, oak sideboard, settee - All in very good condition) and to be honest have met some of the rudest people ever that i unregistered myself and would rather now put things to the skip/ charity. People have turned up and not even a thank you just loaded the car and off they went..
Not saying you are rude to the OP but i prefer to give things to people who generally need them rather than people who would rather not pay for them..0 -
Clothing,in fact anything two boys could
want or need. Collecting for two boys in
advance.
Like others have said I would find that advert off-putting. It sounds quite greedy and it also sounds like some of the adverts you see from the car booters who are pretending not to be car booters. Maybe it would be better to just post an advert for one item at a time (but, obviously don't post an advert every day!). Do you offer things too? If I see an advert asking for lots of things I do tend to just search and see whether the person has ever offered anything on Freecycle too. I think a lot of people are put off by people who never offer anything, but post regular wanteds. I imagine you might have more luck just asking for toys as little boys do seem to destroy their clothing!0 -
I agree with the others:
1. boys tend to wear their clothes out quite well, unless a growth spurt.
2. people pass on to friends/family etc.
3. some folk prefer the charities to get a cut of it by going via there.
4. you seem to expect everything you need for free-did you not expect to have to buy things for them?
Try some charity shops, or ebay for bundles, that sort of thing, or re-word to ask for specific things e.g. boys play clothes age x-x, and always use good manners.Ermutigung wirkt immer besser als Verurteilung.

When my son was growing up, he wore out most of his clothes before he outgrew them (especially the knees of his trousers). The few items which were still good usually went to my friend's boys.
Do you often donate stuff on Freecycle? Tbh if I saw someone on Freecycle asking for the same sort of stuff every month it might put me off a bit unless the asker was also a regular giver.0
