Why don't people freecycle boys clothes?

Is it because they are worn out? I want boys clothes.
Is it because there aren't much around because they spend most of their time at school?
Is it because they ebay/carboot them? When I try no joy people don't want to pay .99p for them.
Is it because people would rather give them to charity?
Is it because people would rather weigh them in and get a price per kilo?

It's a mystery. I can't wait to have a clearout usually 'coz there is so much stuff, to untidy the place.

WANTED - Boys Clothing, Books & Toys 8-9, 9-10,
Anybody having a xmas clearout? We don't have anyone to give us our
hand-me-downs. I ask every month in hope but no luck?

Clothing,in fact anything two boys could
want or need. Collecting for two boys in
advance.

I am not an ebayer I usually pass them on when finished with them.
Many thanks

if they are anything like my boys the clothes don't even last long enough to be grown out of. Three lots of wear and they were only for for the bin, what with holes to dig in the mud, trees to climb, lakes to fall into.

The money I spent on school uniform which they only ever wore to school and changed out of when they got home- was incredible.

I would have had nothing to freecycle

same here my 2 boys are awfull, holes in trousers, rips in tops-i hardly ever buy them anything new though because they wreck it so quick. I get most of their clothing from the charity shop although there is never much i buy in advance.
Don't even get me started on shoes!

I would rather throw them away than have someone come round and inspect each item and just be a PITA generally.

Or someone come round to moan because they are not all designer brands in their packaging with labels intact.

Or just collecting to sell at the next carboot.

Actually that's a good point. I gave up with my local freegle group after endless no shows. It was quicker for me to just take everything to a charity shop and be done with it.

  • I have 3 boys and used to give lots of clothes away to freecycle, nice items - anything with holes or wear went to the bin - but I stopped using freecycle some time ago as I got fed up with 'professionals' collecting items to sell on.
I usually give them to charity shops now.

Your wanted advert of clothes, books and toys makes you sound like a dealer. Just ask for clothes - say why and which clothes- maybe add shoe sizes.

OP, is that the exact wording of your request, or do you say please?

I freecycle my son's clothes. They're not worn out. The tops are usually fine, but the trousers generally have some wear to the hems.

When I was giving some of my clothes away (7 binliners full!), I explained that I'd had a massive response and had chose half a dozen or so people to come and have a root through what I had. One woman wanted me to confirm she was going to get more than just a bagful, or it wouldn't be worth her while!

TBH OP I wouldn't respond to your request because you want 'everything' for them.
If you were 'just' asking for clothes fair enough - but you 'want' books and toys as well? 'Anything' two boys could want or need?

    I have two boys (8 and 4).

The clothes the 8 year old has outgrown I either keep for the younger one, car boot, dump (especially his school trousers), donate to school as spares or cash in at the rag man.

The 4 years olds stuff gets given to a friend who cherry picks the best stuff and the rest is disposed of as above.

I have only given a car seat away on freecycle and have never asked for anything. The recipient of the car seat bombarded me with messages when I initially said I had one and once they had collected it I never even got a message back to say thank you. Says it all really.
