DSR rules apply. You can return it but it may be at your cost.
Don't you and your wife talk to each other about what is needed in the house. I'd do my nut if my OH ordered a major applicance without talking about it to me.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -
I thought the point was that you get to inspect the goods and then cancel, not use them and then cancel. The fact it's been installed means that they have more than inspected the goods, and have potentially used them, which I didn't think DSR allowed.0

DSR allows you to inspect them as you would in a shop, no more no less, it's unfortunately the machine has being installed meaning the transit bolts have being removed and plumbed in, also the plug may have being removed to wire in to a fused spur.
DSR won't apply.0 -

The right to cancel is unconditional. That means that no condition in the contract (such as "must be unused") can stop you from cancelling.
Technically if you were in breach of your statutory duty to take reasonable care (by using it for example) then the shop could pursue you for that breach. But by law, you can still cancel and receive a full refund.
It will change later this year (December I think?) so that the retailer will be allowed to make deductions from the refund to account for any diminished value. But you'll still be able to cancel (because like i said, the right to cancel is unconditional).
The retailer can make requests/stipulate what they feel is reasonable care but if it impedes on your ability to assess the product, it would be void. You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means - Inigo Montoya, The Princess Bride0 -
all the arguing is pretty pointless.
The OP can exchange the washing machine by going into a local currys store and they can organise a different model delivered (and installed if need be), and the old one taken away at the same time. Over the phone I believe they can only arrange for a pickup and refund, not a exchange (unless it's the same model).
OP either phone up Currys and confirm what I've said, or pop into your local branch.0 -

Yup. Used to happen all the time when I worked for Currys. It's a simple switch and the store shouldn't mind doing it. If they do. Go to a different branch since they get targeted for installs, they'll gladly do it.0 -

As it was purchased online it's not really going to make much of a difference and I've never heard of Installs being a KPI0
