  • Looks like this is for Company Car Drivers only.........

The Vauxhall and Saab 3 day Test Drive Programme is open to all company car drivers with a fleet size of 25 vehicles or more (VAT-registered or VAT-exempt companies only).

Arranging your company car test drive could not be easier; simply complete the form below. You must be aged 25 years or over, have held a full driving licence for at least a year and hold a major credit card.

The 3 day Test Drive Programme features a wide selection of both Vauxhall and Saab vehicles (all subject to availability), but excludes Commercial Vehicles, VX220, Monaro and VXR models and is completely free of charge, though the vehicle should be returned with a quarter tank of fuel.

I wouldnt be a car sales person for a gold clock. Its sounds really dangerous and the amonut of cars i have test drove without showing my licence is shocking.

Well, the garages ive been to recently have been much more stricter. I remember test driving a 30k bmw m3 evolution a few years back and the sales guy didnt even ask for my license. Since then though, ive been asked for my license (which they then photocopy) when test driving any old banger - and I dont blame them. If i get caught by a speed camera, then the garage will be liable until they can prove who was driving the car at the time.
  • Just tried to book a Zafira for a weekend and been told that they really don't want to book cars out over the weekend, but prefer midweek loans.
Also there is a £250 deposit on your credit card and a £250 insurance excess.
Can't be booked over teh phone you must visit the garage with driving licence and a utility bill to prove adress etc.

    I've been Money Tipped!
They did this before a good while ago. Jeremy Clarkson mentioned it on his Top Gear programme, so no doubt lots of people took up the offer when there was not so many conditions attached to the offer. Oh well...

i dont mind the conditions but they just ignored calling me back when i phoned them about it, as did renault aberdeen and renault perth. customer service for these sorts of things is terrible it appears. i wish i could walk in with £20k and say 'well if you had phoned me back i probably would have bought this but instead im off to ford' and see thier faces. unfortunately i dont have any intention of buying and just want a shot for a wee jaunt lol

Martin, Sorry to hear that your RSI is playing up. Have you heard of Access to Work??
Its a government scheme that helps pay for special equipment such as voice activated systems or even a support worker to type for you if you are unable to do this yourself because of a disability or health problem. If you are self employed you get it funded 100% but if you are employed your employer is expected to pay around 20% of the cost. If you live or work in the South East of England the tel no for the Access to Work Business centre is 01273 364750 .

Ive done that in the past at a motorcycle dealer. I walked in with 6k in my back pocket to buy a particular bike they had for sale. They messed me about so much I just walked out. When their manager found out, he was on the phone litterally begging me to come back. I told him to stuff it. Most satisfying.

Quite agree about the VX220 especially the turbo! My local wouldn't have one in stock but it's nice to dream about blasting through the countryside in a car you've not paid for and you've not had to insure

Sorry to disagree with you all about the new Astra Sport, I think it looks great, don't know about the drive I'll tell you about that when I have one (in a few years when they come down in price!!) ;)
