But it's not up to us to 'mislead' others into thinking that they MUST go down the POPLA route [just to help beat up PPCs], when ignoring achieves exactly the same result [from the posters POV].
Very few posters come on here and say 'How can I costs the PPCs money every time. Or how can I get this noticed by LondonCouncils and maybe the press, or I want to do something about this scam'...they ask 'I've had a PPC ticket, do I have to pay it/what should I do'.
I agree that using POPLA hurts PPCs etc...but many posters simply want to deal with their problem in the most efficient way and get on with the rest of their busy lives; they don't want to be crusaders for good, they just want to be told their options.0 -
Computersaysno, you might as well give up, our opinions are now heresy on here.
My parting shot:
Has anyone considered that POPLA might just be allowing all these appeals at the moment to convince everyone that they are not really a BPA puppet? The PPCs will soon recoup their lost POPLA fees once all the elderly, vulnerable, timid etc citizens are scared into paying when this "fine upstanding independent organisation" starts rejecting all appeals.
Once a scammer, always a scammer. Don't fall for it!
Bye for now everyone, it's been fun!0 -

I agree, we should be giving all options not just the ones we think that they want to do. Give the options and explain the pluses and minuses of each. Popla is a waste of time IMO, yes there's cases where it is probably the best option, but its down to the people asking advice to decide what to do.
To put the statistics down, in the first 6 months of popla there were a 1000 appeals, in that time about a million fake tickets issued, circa 350k wouldn't have paid, so on that about 350 tickets ignored for every one that went to popla. This is not going to cost ppcs a huge amount of money, just a minute fraction will go there, and even smaller amount will go to a small claim. When posting a parking issue on MSE do not reveal any information that may enable PPCs to identify you. Hi, I am new here, I have however visited several times since recieving a parking charge from pe last autumn. The best advice seemed to be to ignore and not correspond with them at all, that it was I have done.
Today I have recieved a claim form from Northampton County Court.
Is this still part of the scam/threat ? or should this be taken seriously and replied to?. From all I have read on here I never thought it would go this far and now am quite concerned.
I overstayed a 2 hour parking limit at a diy store by about 25 mins, I have reciepts to prove I am a customer, The reason for my overstay is that I was fixing equipment (related to my trade that is fitted to my van) in the car park with products bought from the store, I did'nt leave until the equipment was fixed and was certain that I did not need to go in to buy anything else, Incidentally there is a hot food trailer in the car park too which I often breakfast at, as I did that morning which probably added to me going over 2 hours , what price a bacon butty !
The way I see it neither the diy store or the hot food trailer made any financial loss from me overstaying the stated time period. I go there reguarly ever since and also notice that pe's cameras do not even face into the car park anymore and seem redundant.
Please advise me on what I should (if anything) do next.
Many thanks0 -
Never ignore a small claim ever! Of course take it seriously! Please post a new thread below instead of tagging onto this random one

PARKING EYE SCUMBAGS / RUBBISH FORUM ADVICE that cost me solicitor fees
When I first received a letter from the Colliers Wood Tandem Park. I was Outraged. I spent a fortune in the shops (which I presume pay rent to anyone who owns the land I parked my car on). I was unaware there was a time limit at all and so I had a nice leisurely lunch with the family. This made me run over the free parking time apparently by 20 mins.
The letter/fine annoyed me to the point I ended up in these forums.
After reading the comments posted by the many legal experts on this site I felt confident I could just ignore the Letters.
Satisfied that the greedy bloodsucking leeches would get nothing as they had no legal grounds to bully my hard earned money into their soul less filthy pockets.
HOWEVER....Experts listen up!
I have just received a 4 page COUNTY COURT CLAIM FORM
By the way I saw someone else's post here who had the same issue and it was not cool how so many people said that person was a fake spy working for the parking firm.
I am now referred to on this form as the Defendant by the Solicitor representing the Despicable Parking Eye LTD.
So I guess I'll be paying these scumbags (Solicitor's fee too now included) as I don't want a CCJ on my credit report. GRRR
P.S. I'm in a bad mood so if you actually do know a way to get around this then do share.0 -
Perhaps you missed the last 8 months or so where we tell people not ignore this? If you read my post above yours it tells you what you should be doing nowWhen posting a parking issue on MSE do not reveal any information that may enable PPCs to identify you. They DO monitor the forum.

A very nice introductory post Tommahawk, and there's that note against your name box telling the rest of us 'Alert, Newbie. MSE requests you give new posters a chance! Please be especially nice.'
So, I'm going to follow the MSE requirement of us all, and be especially nice and say 'Welcome to the forum, we hope we can help you'.
Now, given that you have, as you say, taken previous forum advice, could you refer us to the posts you made at the time and the dates of those posts when you sought such advice please. Then we can see where things might have gone wrong for you.
Look forward to trying to help. Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .
I provide only my personal opinion, it is not a legal opinion, it is simply a personal one. I am not a lawyer.

PARKING EYE SCUMBAGS / RUBBISH FORUM ADVICE that cost me solicitor fees
What on earth are you doing asking a bunch of strangers on an internet forum for help, when you have already shelled out for solicitor's advice?
<where is the confused icon when you need it?>I'm a retired employment solicitor. Hopefully some of my comments might be useful, but they are only my opinion and not intended as legal advice.0
