Which is the advice I was looking for - thank you.
Whilst I see your point it's not quite the same thing - I wasn't hiding, as I said above I was under the impression that you guys were consumer biased, my intention is (and always was) to do the right thing but I wanted to know what the advice to the buyer would be (I understand that legally it's the same thing). Whilst I was completely honest with *who* I wasn't my intention was never to deceive (if that makes sense)!
All that said, I would have done the same online / over the phone / in person, I didn't hide behind a computer screen to do it which is the point I was making about being rude.
Eh we've had it a few times. Sellers and consumers both seem to equate "Consumer Rights" board as "Consumer Wants" board. Our aim isnt to get the consumer what they want at all costs. For the most part, we're actually quite a moral bunch (heck just start a thread about seeking compensation and you'll see what I mean) but of course you wouldnt know that if you dont frequent this board or read any previous threads.
There are a few posters on here who tend to always take the consumers side, but they are few and far between. The majority of us will give unbiased advice based on the facts presented to us and our understanding of the relevant legislation.
I understand why you might have been confused and felt there was a need to lie, but I can assure you that you wouldve received the same replies (minus the ones for telling you off for lying ofc :P) if you had told us you were the business.
What we would prefer is companies who do not try and rip off customers, companies who do not try and mislead a consumer about their rights or try to restrict those rights in any way etc. If a company is honest and is just looking for their legal position regarding a consumer, why on earth would we want to punish them? They've actually taken the time to look into it instead of fobbing the customer off.
Trying to learn isnt a bad thing, its a good thing. And most posters on here would realise that. You may have gotten trouble from the ones who blindly defend consumers but you get muppets in all parts of life
You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means - Inigo Montoya, The Princess Bride0
