Another 75p spent for OHs tea tonight, but I made 97p on mine (lovely pizza/cashback offer), so I consider this a -22p day, better even than the NSDs that have come before it Friday and Thursday!
  • Arrrgh..my frugal February has been shot to pieces.....I was budgeting for a spend of £30 on food, but No1 son has unexpectedly come back home, so I've been out shopping and stocking up. £80 in two days!!! anyway I'm hoping for a £130 budget for the two of us.
    GC - Oct £36.17/£31
    GC - Sep £35.56/£30:o
    GC - Aug £30.73/£31
    GC - Jul £30.80/£31
  • Can i also be included in this thread - £250

This is my first money saving challenge. - will I succeed!?

That budget includes me, my OH and a toddler and a newborn.
Trying to save up for a deposit for a mortgage....could be a while!!

I planned a NSD - Mr F took stuff to the charity shop - saw a market stall - bought 3 mangoes for £1. There are now 5 mangoes in the garage.
Breakfast was 1/2 HM muffin with custard. Elevenses was the last breakaw.. bar in the cupboard with a cuppa. Lunch was poached egg on HM bread toasted and a satsuma - last of those. Mid afternoon was a slice of HM syrup cake with a cup of tea.
Dinner - stir fry - enough for Mr F and I plus a portion for the freezer - approx total cost £1.20.
40p for a meal is really good and it was so tasty.

I used to have a food slicer years ago - manual - don't know what happened to it. Got an idea it was left behind when I moved.
I see Lakel... have an electric slicer cheaper than this one - anyone got it please?

I would recommend the Andrew James slicer only £49.99 at the moment on Amazon recommended retail about £139 and much sturdier than the Lakeland one I looked at for £39.99. Got the AJ slicer this week and it's fab, 2 extra blades included and sliced my homemade bread and turkey breast perfectly

  • Florenceem that looks yummy. Is it veggie? I could just eat that with a few cashew nuts thrown in :)

Went to ald1 today with my vouchers and decided to do 2 x £40 shops to use 2 vouchers. DH said it was a bit of a faff to do this and couldn't we ask the assistant just to take the 2 vouchers against everything. Well of course we know they can't do that. He was in a right strop about it and said well I better let you do it your way or you will tell them all about it on your forum:rotfl:

I bought some items like a bird table, bird seed, folders for work and some coloured pencils for DS which I will take off my totals so have £55 to add to my GC total. (Will check the exact figure). I also need to add £5.30 for a chippy tea and £1.80 for a bottle of water and sausage roll for DS when shopping today and £22 in M&S last night.

My DH makes me laugh. I don't need to worry about him adding crisps and rubbish to the trolley but he does like to add cleaning stuff even though I do 90% of the cleaning. I now have bottles of drain clearer and ceramic hob cleaner under the sink from today's shopping:rotfl:

I am really pleased with what I got form ald1. I haven't shopped there for a while and felt I got a lot for my money:)
