Yo don't need a CD. All you need to do is hook it up and enter the details via the router's configuration page as stated above by penrhyn. All the CD does is install a load of bloatware that does nothing useful at all.
Your username and password are not 'on Google'-they're confidential and known only to you (or supposed to be)! If you've forgotten them then you'll need to go through TT security and have them supplied or reset.
Getting someone 'teccy' in won't help, as they won't know them either, unless you employ a clairvoyant.
If the router is faulty, you can buy a perfectly good Netgear wireless router for less than a tenner on ebay-or blag one off TT for free.I meant your user name and passwrord, the one you use to acess your ISP using your USB modem.
Then i've done everything right but clearly something is wrong somewhere.
User/pass is correct, PPPoe is my connection....0 -
So can you get to the router's log in screen, log in and see the configuration screen? No free lunch, and no free laptop0

Yes, I can see that and make changes.
Internet Status - no connection
But it has the datarate down 7968 up 448
In my internet connections my WAN Miniport WAN PPPOE is disconnected but I have something called LAN High Speed connected - IslerSodor? Network 2
In another place it has PC - Network 2 - Internet with a red X between network 2 and internet.
I'm also on private network, not public?
Could this Isler Sodor connection be blocking my router...and what is it?0 -
I thought the Isle of Sodor was where Thomas the Tank engine lived? That gum you like is coming back in style.0

Possibly.....I did get it from a family member whose computer it formerly was.
My old modem won't work on Vista i've found out....so I may have to roll back to XP, just to get any internet access. This router isn't going to work and I have no idea what this connection IslerSoder is, but it's connected to something.
At the end of my tether now and i'm going to miss all of my deadlines as this PC I am typing on is too weak and keeps freezing.0 -
Why roll back, update to a newer windows version, but for what you want to use it for and run windows your RAM will need to be updated to bigger to.
These only plug into the board but you need to check and make sure you get the same compatable RAM board, or boards as most have 2 these days!
Working with bits and pieces from differing sources isnt usually the cheapest unless you know what your doing?
AND BY THE WAY Sodor is a ficticious place as is Thomas the tank engine, but dont tel my g.son?Signature removed0 -

Roll back so I can use my modem again and at least get on the PC - this old dinosaur I am typing on takes 30 secs+ to load an internet page.
RAM is the one thing I can do.... and I will buy more and add it. I will use the crucial tool.
I won't whisper a word - i've learnt something new today....I just hope I learn how to connect this router!0 -
The Belkin router looks OK.
This should help you with the setup.

Thanks, working through it but cannot find local connection.
My PC says connected at 100mbps - erm...no, I don't get that speed and i'm not connected at all.
Red light on router still.0 -
Nope, nothing works.
In the bin it will be going and another router which will probably have the same problems will be bought.
Deadlines will be missed, oh well.0
