Warning To All 02 Customers Due An Upgrade...
....don't bother!!
After seven years with them I have just cancelled my contract. I was on £20 per month, 500 mins 500 texts. Never had a problem. Called me for an upgrade and said for the same tarriff I would have to pay £35 a month because mine was a 12 month promotional offer and is no longer viable!
I thought for sure they would budge when I went through to cancellations but no go! I told them I wasnt paying extra when I was sure I could find cheaper so I have ended my deal with them!!
Can't believe it - just a warning to all moneysavers. There used to be a time where they would offer you all sorts to get you to stay. It appears with 02 anyway that that time has gone!

Cant see them doing somersaults to retain me on my £10 a month contract then !WHOOOOSHHHHHHHHH……..
Blimey what was that ?
That was your life mate
Oh I wasn’t quite ready can I have another go ?
Sorry mate only one per person.0 -
I swear these phone companys want to get rid of customers sometimes.0
-
They were so unhelpful! I can't believe it!! Not sure what to do now!0

So it seems it's not only Vodafone that is disregarding their customers' requests...hmm maybe the network companies are having to reduce their costs in anticipation of VoIP's increasing popularity. Add that to their over-priced investment in 3G licenses and it's suddenly becoming clearer why all this poor retention is occurring.0

HA HA Me too. I'm on £10 per month with 100 mins & 100 texts, due an upgrade next week. They even sent me a card asking me to ring them as they might be able to save me some money!!.
I rang & they couldn't.0 -
The focus for the mobile companies now is improving their average revenue per user (ARPU). So they're trying to focus on getting more money out of each customer and attracting higher value customers onto longer, more expensive deals, as well as getting us to make more use of chargeable premium services such as mobile internet/downloads. (this is how 3 is so successful)
Vodafone has been doing this, Orange has been doing this, I don't see why O2 wouldn't, given their currently strong market position (they've currently got the biggest subscriber base in the UK, if I remember correctly an article about two months back).0 -
I think I fell victim to this as well.
I was on O2 Online 50, 75 minutes and 300 texts for £19 a month. I asked for a K800i, and either a lower bill or more minutes, and I was basically turned down flat.
And yet, a friend of mine on the same tarrif got a K800i plus bluetooth headset etc. still for £19 a month!
Might there be any point in phoning them again early next month, if they have new targets to meet then? I don't especially want to leave them, but I do want a shiny phone...
Cheers,

I also have found that the phones I am being offered as "free upgrades" are what I would class as "Free downgrades" - I asked them how much to upgrade to Nokia N95, based on my current contract was told £299.99.
Now if I were a new customer to them, I could get the same phone on similar contract for £199.99
Don't want to switch to Orange because the company I work for have bought out the contract with them as reception was very poor and many friends I know have experienced this as well. So needing to search out other offers.0 -
I'm going to give them a call today. Could someone remind me the retentions number?0
