Btw, what are you putting in overnight guest goody bags and bathroom baskets?

Im putting things like toothpaste, toothbrush, mini facial cream, a mini box of chocs and a thank you card in the overnight bags, just a little soemthing to say thank you for staying.

Then for the bathroom baskets things like hairspray, deodorant, facial wipes, fancy tissues, maybe some little lipglosses, boiled sweets, mini chocolates, hairpins, hairbobbles, tampax, plasters, mini sewing kit and i think thats it for now :)
  • Ooo, love the idea of the bathroom baskets!

My list of bits I am hoping to make so far looks a bit like this:

    - Save the dates - Now made and sent out :)
    - Invitations
    - Places Names
    - Favours
    - Loads of bunting (around 500m :O)
    - Table Plan
    - Kids Activity Packs
    - Signs for around the venue (bar/toilets/etc)
    - Candle Holders
    - Jam Jar Vases
    - Table Runners

Can't think of anything else at the moment!

  • Well yesterday i managed to get all my kids activity books printed out, i had seen the free versions but decided to make my own :) so there all done, i picked up a box of packets of crayons, about 80 all in all from the car boot for £3!! Got my white paper bags off ebay and then my daughter has a stamp set which im going to use to stamp all the kids names on.
Anyone have any idea what i could use for table name holders? I dont want to pay over £20 for holders that i am never going to use again, i thought about maybe some cheap photoframes or something. Our table names are going to be chosen by our daughter (her favourite films) so i had an idea to maybe get the photo of the film printed out for them. Any one else have any ideas?

Moonbabe what type of bunting are you making? I would love to do this as our room is quite bare - im going to see if we can make paper pom poms and hang them up but its such a big room, i would have to make a huuuuggge amount of bunting. is it easy to do? I love DIY projects and i have 8 bridesmaids so im using all their skills to come help me :) one of them is a dab hand with a sewing machine, one is a fab writing so is doing all the fancy writing for everything. Ill update with pictures once i have taken some lol x
  • We are getting married in a barn, so it is a very empty space. For the bunting I have been loosely following this Youtube tutorial http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HXRE9QlSEFo

It is fairly simple, basically cutting out triangle of fabric, sewing the edges and sewing on bias binding :) I have been buying sheets and curtains from charity shops, so much cheaper than buying fabric! I think I should be able to make around 500 metres for around £100, or 20p a metre which is a darn site cheaper than the 60-90p a metre you can buy in for. Hoping to recover some of the costs by selling some of it on afterwards.

Hi fellow bunting makers! I haven't started mine yet - rather daunted by it but at least it'll use up some of my fabric mountain!
The other things I'm making (all being well) are:

    Invites
    Save the dates (done)
Bouquets (mine and 2 bridesmaids in felt - a whisker away from done)
    Favours (leather stamped keyrings)
    Corsages
    Buttonholes
Ties for 2 best men and groom
    table confetti
    throwing confetti
all other paper goods like menus etc
table decorations (painted jars and paper flowers)
    cake topper
    embroidering groom's Converse with date

And hopefully that's it - though I've probably forgotten loads!

    Ladies and Gents,

Now married off but I really wanted to share my little 2 penny worth!

I made soooo much stuff myself it got a bit out of hand to be honest, but I have to say that the compliments I, other half and parents received over everything was so lovely.

If you have the time and the ability - do it. I recommend it, its worth seeing everyone's face on the day when they realise its all your hard work.

We definitely saved A LOT of money by doing as much as we could, and everything was how I imagined it to be (unlike the flowers which weren't what I asked for whatsoever but thats a whole other story!)

If anyone wants ideas, let me know and I will post some photos of my makes.

  • I have now cut out enough triangles for 75 meters of bunting, only 425 meters to go! MIL to be is kindly sewing them up for me, faster than I can cut them!

I am now kind of thinking I want to make my own wedding cupckakes and cake topper to, but H2B is worried I am giving myself too much to do!

I can't believe I've missed this thread and I can't wait to see what you all make!

I'm making/have made or am planning to make the following

    - brooch bouquet (nearly done!)
    - invitations (finished yesterday, woo hoo!)
    - chocolate truffle favours (truffles x 300! I must be mad)
    - wedding cake (I really must be mad :rotfl: )
    - escort cards/place cards and display board
    - signs for: guestbook instructions, directions to bar and guestbook room, timetable for day
    - menus/menu sign
    - table numbers
    - entertainment/goody bags for the kids

I think I'm going to have time for all of it, but it does mean not much time to do anything else.

Most things are for our reception in May but I have to finish everything by the end of March cause we fly to Vegas on the 6th April

Our wedding is vintage inspired and I'm making the following:

    Cupcakes
6 bridesmaid bouquets and mine (baby's breath & lace mainly)
    Invites
    Favour boxes
Favour chocolates (all homemade i.e. remelted & coloured + added toppings)
Cushion covers for around the venue & chairs; I've made 9 so far, only another 21 to go (I started 2 weeks ago and have 7 months to go)
Jam Jar & vintage tea cup vases & flower arrangements
Photobooth (wallpapered MDF & large vintage frame)
    Table cloths & runners

I probably make some signs and a few other things! I absolutely LOVE crafting!
