Have you rebooted the nexus?
Try that and see if the music files appear.Helping the country to sleep better....ZZZzzzzzzz0 -
Pretty much all my music is in MP3 format, so most players will recognise it. VLC (as said above) will recognise more format types, including your WMA files.
You don't need to reboot the nexus for them to become visible.
And don't worry about VLC being Beta - it pretty much always is anyway, on ANY platform.0 -
Pinkypants. No I have not rebooted thanks for the reply.
I down loaded astro file manager yesterday it showed all the files, but would not play them, so deleted it.
I have now down loaded double twist, but have not tried that yet. So if this does not work then will try vlc.
Bod1467. Can I just ask have you put your CD on the computer then copied to the nexus 7.
This is driving me mad0 -
All my music is ripped to MP3 (I use CDEX to rip CDs to MP3).
I plug the Nexus into my computer (using the cable that came with it). First time the computer finds the drivers for it and then recognises it as a portable device, calling it Nexus 7. Then I simply copy the folders containing the MP3 files from the PC to the Nexus (into the Music folder).
Astro file manager won't PLAY the files. Same as Windows Explorer won't PLAY the files.
If they are WMA files (Windows Media Audio) then Google Player may not play them. VLC almost certainly will though.
I forgot to try Double Twist when I tested previously.0 -
Just a thought for a probable simple solution .
From PC upload music to Google via
music.google.com .
It will then be permanently available in the cloud and you can download what you want or stream .
The only problem i find at times on Android is some players cannot find the music as they don't find the music folder .
I simply create a new folder on the sd card via any file explorer called Music and copy through USB .

Double Twist player app also finds the music. Tried it earlier.
I think the fundamental problem is the music being in WMA format (if this is indeed the format these files are). In which case the simplest solution may be to get something to batch-convert WMA to MP3, such as this. (I have no experience with this utility - it was just one of the first ones to come up in a search).0 -

Might re-ripping be quicker and more effective, since these tracks probably originated from a CD?0 -
Quite possibly. Depends on how many tracks are involved.
In reality - just use VLC. Problem solved and no transcoding needed.0 -
They are all from CD's , but on my computer I don't have any choice what format they are ripped to.
Will play about and will report back, hopefully with good news.0
