Taken over an hour but finally got my trial membership. Doubt it will be upgraded to a year one though, especially as other forums are applying too, must have run out in the first 10 minutes. It's free though so all a bonus! ;)

MSE UPDATE 3.20pm Fri 4 Jan: Gourmet Society has confirmed 1,500 annual memberships have gone and there's another 500 left, but the site's still struggling under the massive demand.

We’ve temporarily taken the link down so those that already have it, stand a better chance of getting the freebie.

We’ll put the link back up when the site’s fully functioning. It’s likely all the one year passes will have gone but you’ll still be able to grab a month’s totally free pass."

So if you've got the confirmation e-mail by now you'll probably have the years pass!

Thank you - I tried that one, I have put my details in and requested the app however there is no activation code displayed in the box :( so although I have downloaded it I cannot activate it....

Received the email and now haves aged to activate the app-as able I doubt I have the free 12 month membership now but a free month (or slightly more) is better than nothing :)

I got to the final page, but also no code displayed in the box.

But I also have received no email an hour later - so now unclear whether I'm signed up or not!
  • Got my code at 3:28pm so fingers crossed! :)

Hubby got a months membership and so did I although since I got mine at 15:20 perhaps I have got a one year membership (wishful thinking ). Anyway do all cards expire at the end of February?

I thought that too-I didn't waste time looking at the offers but taste card is a LOT better.....either way-this is free so if I use it just once it will be a bargain :)
