Problem neighbour over my trees
Comments
-
My Dad saw him when I was at work and told him the garage was coming down this week and the trees ASAP after that. He said he wasn't sure he understood what he meant but Dad did tell him not to put anything else through the door.
The note says something like "I picked all these seeds off my patio I wish you to get rid of your trees". It's unsigned.0 -

To be honest the language in the note is pretty tame. He doesn't sound wound up (yet) so I'd just go round and have a chat and put his mind at rest. If you are going to be neighbours for the foreseeable future it may just stop any problems later on if he's sees you as a reasonable person. It's someone else's fault.0 -
One of my strategies to help me is to say to the person who is in danger of arousing my ire - "what can we do to sort this" or even to stand beside them looking at what the problem is instead of facing them, works sometimes.Fair enough, if it was through the door then I would have gone round to see him but still very calm and just see if we could reach a sensible solution. I used to deal with complaints years ago and it's surprising how many people walked out of the shop very calm after initially ranting and raving and still not getting what they wanted. My first answer was pretty much always "yes I agree with you" and it quite often stopped them in their tracks. It's probably old age too

I'd plant the seeds in his garden late at night. I'd plant them to form the words 'F... and OFF'

It's a bit late for that, the neighbour sounds like someone who has an empty life and a bit of a problem. Tattle taling about the previous owner etc. Then not taking responsibility or possession when OP's dad went to tell him what was underway. The truth may be out there, but the lies are inside your head. Exactly, always try the reasonable approach first. If reason and friendliness don't work then we can move on to the next level but I really do find that most people come round when approached in a friendly manner. Obviously there are the odd ones who won't.It's someone else's fault.0 -
Well, the trees are now down. A small incident with a branch and a neighbour's garden but no damage done and I passed in a bottle of wine as an apology. Let's see if I get any further complaints...0
