Yes please, Pen - I'd love a hen named after me! You can call her Molly for short! It would give me a whole new alter-ego - Molly 'the Hen' Penguin - I like the sound of that! Hope they all turn out to be what you want!KNIT YOUR SQUARE TOTALS:

Hi everyone and thanks so much for welcoming me! I have spent the afternoon cleaned my house until it gleams and know I'm knackered, should now be doing some paperwork for work but I'll get to that in a few mins. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for lots of lovely hens for you Pen-pen, I'd love to have hens but I think my dogs would love them too - in a different way!
Its funny how everything seems better when the house is clean, OH should be home soon, we've spoke on the phone and he's being very supportive now, he just had a bit of a shock yesterday! I'm cooking him gammon, new potatoes and cabbage for his dinner with some homemade onion marmalade. I tend to eat 5 smaller meals a day so I'm having tomato and basil soup with a bread roll and then a bowl of grapes and soya yoghurt later on.
Regards weight loss and exercise advice, I'll just post some general tips now and again when I've got enough time but if anyone has any specific questions then by all means ask and I'll do my best to help!
I have been on the DFW board and you're all right, its a great board with loads of helpful advice, I put my SOA up and have already had lots of useful suggestions, I think I can actually halve my food bill next month!
I don't have a bread maker and in current financial situation can't justify buying one, does anyone know any quick and easy bread making recipes as I don't get a lot of time in the week. OH does an extremely labour intensive job and in order to stop him wasting away, he gets through about 8 - 10 rounds of bread a day!
Right, paperwork then dinner, House is on tonight so I want to be able to sit and relax and know everythings done by then!
Have a good evening everyone!October grocery challenge(started 17/10/07):

Hello, and welcome!!
Delia has a great recipe for soda bread - Click Here. There's no yeast, it's really easy, but doesn't keep too well - not that you suggest that will be a problem
She has another one with oatmeal, so try googling if you like this basic one.

Good afternoon everyone,
Welcome Sam - im sure you will love it here, good luck over at the DFW board as well.
Penpen - will keep our fingers crossed for your new hens, would love one named after me, but not sure if a hen would want to be called Cat!!!! Maybe Angel, which is my pet name for my DD, she would love to think someone had named a hen after her!!!
Well, havnt done loads today, but did sit down for an hour this morning and finished reading my book - it was lovely to relax for a while, something i havnt done for ages!!! I have also finally cleaned under my kitchen table, i really dont know why i hate it so much, it doesnt take long and i do it every week so its not dirty (normally a bit of dust) but its the one thing i never want to do - would rather clean the loo or the oven!!!! But, its done now, so thats good.
We are off out in a bit, the school are having a 'primary to secondary' school evening so we are going. Brings home how fast the years are going, DS starting year 6 in September, so big school next year  and my baby is going to be 9 tomorrow - it still feels like yesterday they were babies!!!
Right, going to finish loading the DW - made one of DSs favourites tonight - spare ribs for dinner, and they were lovely - but the pan is normally a sticky mess, makes me love my DW even more!!!
Have a lovely evening,
Take care xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
Just read some emails, and found the book i finished reading this morning, which i listed on Amazon has sold already!!!! HURRAH.0 -

Just off to visit my friend in London hospital, she needs some hugs! and am sorting out magazines etc for her, I really need to flylady my old magazine collection but it does come in useful sometimes.
Dinner tonight will have to be a un mse takeaway when we get back but otherwise I will not get to visit her.
Clinic app early tomorrow so might not get on here til the weekend. Have a great weekend everyone!

Afternoon all
Guess who has finally got internet connection at home - me! Hurrah
This means I should be able to keep up to date more often.
(((Pen-Pen))) I am so sorry to hear about your chooks, it really is sad. Sending hugs your way. My grandparents were farmers and had hens, but they used to battle against the local foxes.
Happy anniversary Shez.
I'm supposed to be on a day's leave today, writting an essay. So far I've spent the day catching up with work and connecting my broadband, where has the day gone do?!?!
Mmm, might just spend a few more minutes browsing on MSE as a treat...naughty I know.

Hi everyone! Hope you've all had a good day and will have a great evening! First of all, QUEENIE - like CRAZYCHIK, I don't remember who posted re the Rail Card but mine has arrived as well, so, thank you very much! Nice little plastic wallet for it as well! Matches my driving licence wallet!:T :T
MRS MIX - I would be worried about that doctor! A lot of mistakes seem to be made by the NHS nowadays so I wouldn't take any chances! I once had to get firm on the ward on behalf of my DS2 after the first of his three ear ops; he was recovering on the ward and the consultant and his team were doing their rounds and the one taking the dressings off was - how can I put it delicately, after all, it is dinner time?! - unpacking his trunk, no tissue, no hanky, not even his sleeve, nothing!  Having not bothered to wash his hands, he was heading for my precious baby (who was sixteen, by the way, and already 6' tall, but my baby nonetheless!) so I just had to say that I wanted someone else to check him! I was asked why and couldn't lie, could I? He didn't deny it - just looked very embarrassed!
I was very polite about it but, in this day of rampant hospital-acquired infections, I didn't want to risk my son picking up anything due to someone else's lack of personal hygiene - in a hospital, of all places! I hope it stopped him doing it in the future - I like to think so!
SMOKY - I think SamSamPotts has been sent from heaven to help all weight-battlers and she sounds really keen to impart some professional knowledge! I hate to hear you sounding so despondent - it makes me sad. Today is the first day of the rest of your life........GO, GIRL, GO!!:A :A
SAMSAM - boy, your last post sounded so much more positive compared to your first one! Already, you have benefitted from finding yourself amongst good friends! We're a great lot, aren't we??!! I'm so glad you and your DH are tackling this together - they say true love is not gazing into each other's eyes but both gazing in the same direction! I'm sure you'll go from strength to strength now that he's on board as well! No doubt, we shall be picking your brains on a very regular basis so keep posting - we don't want to miss anything!
CAT - so pleased you've been able to relax today!:T :T I like the idea of finishing a book and selling it immediately! I said on an earlier post that I've never sold through Amazon before, but I am going to have a go tomorrow! I have had some books listed on greenmetropolis.com (I think that's what it's called) for about three weeks now and not a bite! It's more of a recycling site for books really - you just add the books you want to sell on to their database. All paperbacks sell for £3.00 which includes p & p and you can have a wish-list with them and they'll email you when a book you are looking for comes onto their database.
Well, I have sold six of the eight items I listed on eBay last week. It all went a bit manic here   because I listed them to end within the same half hour and I started getting into a right muddle! In the end, I went and did some baking, had a cuppa , took a deep breath and then got it sorted. I thought it was a good idea listing them all together but now I'm not so sure. What do others do?

DANNA - made wholemeal rolls today then forgot they were in the oven - see last paragraph! They are a little bit crusty which DH will hate because he hasn't got the most stable of teeth! I will use some to make Hot Buttered Plums tomorrow. DS2 and his GF will be round later - they have great teeth and will probably take the rest!:j :j
Have a great evening - hope to look in again later! I love this thread and all the lovely people on it!KNIT YOUR SQUARE TOTALS:

Evening everyone :hello:
DH is on his way back home, so I'll have to get supper cooking in about 5 mins. It's just stir fry, so it won't take too long.
I've had a blimming exhausting day. The children in my new class have been little terrors. I had just about had enough. The Assistant Head came and had a chat with them and they've promised to all be angels from now on.... Just in case they forget that they're supposed to be little angels, we've come up with a "zero tolerance" approach to behaviour management!
Should any of them step out of line tomorrow, this new technique (of sending them to the ever-so-scary deputy head) will be brought into action.

Pen pen - if one of the eggs happens to be a cockerel, then you should call it "Martin".
Obviously, one of the LAYDEEZ should be called "Vicky". :rotfl:
Bye for now
