Problem with wireless adapter or access point

I am using this site to check the speed

How do I check the wifi connection speed?
As I thought, you've been referring to internet speeds, not your wifi connection (i.e. between laptop and whichever router it's connected to) Don't have my W7 machine handy to check.. on XP it was easy, just hover over the wifi icon in the notification area and it'd tell you the wifi connection speed, OTTOMH it's buried somewhere in the network adapter properties on 7 and Vista. The wifi speed is likely to be between 11 meg (802.11b) and around 270 Meg(802.11n), and is not likely to be any lower, even with a level of interference.......Gettin' There, Wherever There is......

Thanks. I have gone into Properties for the wireless adapter, but can't see anything there about speed.0

Got an ethernet cable handy ?? Would be worth repeating the speedtest wired and wifi back-to-back to see the difference.........Gettin' There, Wherever There is......

I tried that about a month ago when I was having problems connecting at home.
[FONT="]Tried it with an Ethernet to the router and got 5.5Mbps, tried it wireless next to the router and got the same. Using it in the kitchen, where I normally use it, I got 2Mbps.

in that case, have you run inSSIDer to see if you're getting wifi interference ??

I already have inSSIDer which is showing that I am the only one on Channel 1, there are 4 on Channel 11, one on Channel 6 and one on Channel 8 although the last two aren't showing on the graph.
How do I check if I am getting wifi interference as it isn't mentioned in the User Guide?0 -
If there's no other router's graph overlaying yours at all then that's fine, but you can also see the signal strength you are picking up from your router, if it's better than -60db-ish that shouldn't be the problem and it sounds more like internet itself rather than a wifi issue. Can you post the line stats as asked for earlier ?......Gettin' There, Wherever There is......
