Anyone dealt with EUM Consultants? (insulation)

Mr Mark McAlear has contacted me and has resolved my issues with EUM, to my complete satisfaction. EUM are a professional well organised company, and I accept that even the best run organisations can sometimes unintentionally make mistakes.0

I have had dealings with EUM,initially a local chap came to survey my property, which he did expertly, and yesterday 11/11/13 they sent two young lads to complete the cavity wall insulation, which they did but ran out of beads half way through! So they came back today,12/11/13 to finish off. I was very happy with the job,and can notice the difference already, the only bad thing I can say is,its very messy, aside from the brick dust, the beads they pump into the wall tend to get everywhere,my drive is full of them as is my front garden and a lot of the road out the front!0

I'm interested to read your comments "Diddlydom" and I suspect it was the same two men that visited me. They don't seem very organised as they arrive at my house with a flat battery on their compressor. We used my car to go and buy a set of jump leads, and used my car to get the compressor started.
I also had a lot of brick dust and beads to clean up. I wasn't aware they had finished, and was surprised when I looked out to see they had gone. If I had seen them before they went I would have insisted they help me clean up! "Bodgeit and Scarper" springs to mind.0 -
Could well be! They came from Middlesbrough all the way to my house in North Wootton,Norfolk! They sort of cleaned up,by which I mean they sprayed my hose pipe about a bit! I will say however, they were very concerned about my decrotive gas fire I have, its one of these ones with fans and a catalectic convertor to get rid of waste gases thru a pipe with no flue, and they'd never seen one before.
They did a test with a match to see if it dragged the smoke thru(which it did) then one of them was on the phone to his boss as they were unsure if to put an air brick in or not,it was only when I got it up on the net that it didn't need ventilation that he was satisfied!
Looking round my house now,im not sure they've done my porch,i cant see any holes,i shall bring it up with the inspector when or if he comes!!0 -
Just had these guys at my door, saying they want to do me free cavity wall insulation and were from EUM. This is something I've not bothered looking into has my house is a working class terrace built in 1872, so I doubt it has cavity walls? I just checked several insulation sites which said to look at both the width of the walls from a window opening (mine is under 10 inches) and the pattern of the bricks (mine have a pattern of long and short bricks) which also suggests that I do not have cavity walls.
I said this to him and he said my next door neigbour had it done. There is a plaque between the houses outside saying 1872 so both houses were built at the same time - it's unlikely he has cavity walls and I don't?
If British gas won't give me free insulation, why are these guys offering it all of a sudden, I don't really get why one guy in a plain suit knocked first, and then two guys in hi vis jackets came to speak to me, and say I can have cavity wall insulation in a house which was presumably built with solid walls before cavity walls were even invented?0 -
I told them I was busy (so I could check them out) and they said they would come back later, I don't really have the time for this today, on principle I usually just turn people away who cold call on my doorstep as it's a practice I hate even more than cold telephone calling, any advice would be appreciated!0

I mean people turning up in Hi vis jackets, all ready to do you a "free" something does feel a bit pressured when you have just got up...
Phoned the energy saving trust who said they are not really aware of anything that could just be offered free to all and sundry, and were very suspicious about these guys offering cavity wall insulation on a clearly solid walled house.
So he said he could get me a callback from another department which would take me through whatever I might be able to get or not, officially, rather than these doorstep people. At least I know that will be legitimate! No idea if these guys were genuine or not but trying to pull the wool over my eyes about doing cavity wall insulation on an 1872 house didn't inspire me with confidence!0 -
After putting a card through my door earlier in the week, they were back banging on my door today. I answered and they said they wanted to do my cavities, again, on a solid wall. What are they going to do, pretend to do the cavity insulation on my solid walls and claim money from the government for doing it? Told them I was looking into my options via the energy saving trust which he didn't seem to have heard of and told him not to come back.0

my grandson started work with them before Christmas he hasn't been paid since beginning of January and has walked his feet off and got lots of sales - rubbish company that doesn't care for their employees surely won't care about the public (customers)0

Two gentleman called and spent over 2 hours at our property, drilling holes in walls and checking our loft, telling us we were entitled to free cavity wall and loft insulation.
I had heard nothing more after 5 weeks and so telephoned the company today, only to be told they had no details of the visit or the consultant who conducted the visit. I explained the survey was conducted using their paperwork. They said they were aware some consultants were fraudulently using their paperwork. I asked them what they were doing about it and they said it was nothing to do with them. I am not sure who has gained from this, but it was a complete waste of our time and I am concerned now that I allowed two strangers into my home (although as previous comment, I did check the company on their website before allowing them in).
Same thing happened to me back end of 2013, and I never got the Free EPC report. Wasted a couple of days with these jokers.0
