LBC radio had a GP call in to say this was whats long been needed as he gets tired telling very large workless people that all / most of ther health issues could be addressed with weight loss and excercise.
It takes some bedside manner to tell a fatty that most of their problems are self-inflicted without causing the patient to avoid future visits in case their weight is mentioned again. I suspect the GP in question is in the minority and most will avoid the subject.
The dailymash have their finger on the pulse as usual....From April all benefit claimants will be fitted with a headset so they can be controlled by a middle class person who is trained to know what is best for everyone.

Thing is this. In my admittedly prosperous rural area the vast vast majority of Women, mainly Mums, are not over weight, and excercise is part and parcel of life. They eat well in the main. It really isn;t rocket science. The left have long excused bad decision making pretending for example eating healthily costs more, which anyone with any common sense knows to be untrue (we were poor, Mum made stews etc and she had to walk miles to the shops).
It's all an attitude thing.0 -
Micromangement of the Poor whilst the Rich get away with it.
Rule for the Poor and One for the Rich with this caring sharing Condem administration.
I am appalled but in principal I support it. Benefits need to be raised to afford healthy food and cooking lessons given.#TY[/B] Would be Qaulity MSE Challenge Queen.
Reading whatever books I want to the rescue!:money::beer[/B

I know this is an oversimplification, but there is a correlation between 3 factors in many cases.
Lazy Fat Poor
Which is cause and which is effect can be interchangeable.0 -
If only life were that simple, that it is all down to attitude and et voila problem solved. Trouble is we meet with the problem of deep inequalities where the rich are getting richer and the poor poorer all helped by the poor paying for tory bankers !!!!lessness and manipulation of electorate via media to benefits bashing stories.#TY[/B] Would be Qaulity MSE Challenge Queen.

but there on benfits they can't afford to eat .... its so tough wah wah wah
Oh yea, that's classic neave lefty line number 3:rotfl:
They are so neave they fall for this line it's hard to live on £54 pw.
Back in the real world, every day we get enquiries from tenants on benefits that once you tot them all up and add in the black market work means it's no wonder they afford the Ibiza hoildays etc.
One girl we know on benefits drives a Merc 4 matic, one of these;
Her long term BF with whom she has kids, owns a sucesful biz.
Again lefties just dont meet these types. I'd love to get at the psychology as to why this is.0 -

A classic old style leftist misreading.
The poor round here are not poor, they are adept at dealing in cash, and milking the system. They have wonderful holidays and nice cars.
You seem to imply the poor are stupid jellyfish. They ain't.
The real benefits loungers we meet are a bit hard up I'll admit, but for decades the left in the guise of social services and educationalists have told them they are incapable and give them have excuses such as fresh food being too far away to get at (classic middle class white left wing women constantly use lines like fresh food is beyond the wit of poor people, on Radio 4's Woman Hour)
!! I walked 6 miles round trip to school !!!!!!!
It's this excuse culture that has been the ruination of many.0 -

Oddly enough, it is that simple.
Eat less and exercise more and you lose weight.
All the other stuff is just excuses, which just gives people a get out.0 -

So should a doctor not mention a 40 a day habit to a smoker who is coughing his lungs up, in case he didn't come back?0 -

I think doctors should be openly discussing any lifestyle issue which impacts on their patients health and well-being.
It's a skill which, in my experience, GP's are either lacking or fearful of using. The biology is simple; eating less and exercising more is correlated with better health. What isn't simple is getting people to deal with obesity as evidenced by the obesity figures.
Don't expect your self-help book (Fat, Lazy and Poor - Just East Less and Exercise More) to fly off the shelves.0
