Total aid spending will rise from £8.65billion in the 2012-2013 financial year to £11.3billion in 2013-2014 – an increase of £2.65billion.

What about those that just miss out on pension credit? Another child benefit !!!! up coming?'Just think for a moment what a prospect that is. If we can't afford WFA we can't afford foreign aid increases was the point of the post.
Aggressively cutting foreign aid, rather than the lightweight reviews at present, would help on anumber of fronts, either towards deficit reduction , WFA, or care for the elderly."If you act like an illiterate man, your learning will never stop... Everyone else has lost benefits, child tax credits, funded tuition fee places etc, so I dont see why a bunch of affluent retirees should continue to receive a handout on top of all the other state benefits they get.0

Depends where they draw the line.
It's a little unfair on those who have saved for their retirement, often opting for a more frugal lifestyle so they could enjoy a reasonable standard of living in their old age.
They already see those who earned a good wage but saved nothing enjoy pension credits and help with rent, council tax etc.
What's the point of saving for your retirement if every benefit going is only handed out to those who didn't.If I don't reply to your post,
you're probably on my ignore list.0 -

True. But you can say that about every kind of benefit. By that virtue its unfair on everyone who has a job and doesnt get income support as well.0 -

... But we do get pension credit on our savings of £10 per week which is means tested although we are not eligible for Pension Credit. So we are fortunate as far as that goes and we appretiate it.
I see others that have had a much better wage than I ever got and did not save and now, as you say, are getting all the credits going, the system has been abused by so many to the cost of others.0
