They aren't charging you for changing your name, they're fining you for causing them inconvenience, it's the same thing as Ryanair's £60 airport check in fee, it's not a bill, it's a fine. I can't understand why people find it so hard to realise these things.Have you heard of 'unfair contract terms', 'onerous clauses' and 'unreasonableness' ?
Can businesses just 'make up' terms and conditions with no regard to English Law?0 -
So presumably you'd be happy with no amendment fees ever but higher flight prices for everyone, including those who check forms before they submit them?
Correction of simple errors is included in fixed overheads costs and has no bearing on flight prices whatsoever.Posts are not advice and must not be relied upon.0 -

But their name hasn't changed !

You emply a certain number of advisors per year as an overhead and this is a fixed cost, meanwhile your IT team develop more ways for customers to do things on line so when further aircraft are added to the fleet more advisors are not needed so overheads costs per annum per aircraft are reduced.Posts are not advice and must not be relied upon.0

Why would you increase the size of your IT team to provide these services when instead you can charge for them and make a profit? More advisors are worth it if they make the compnay money
I'm sure they predict raking in a few charges as part of their business model. Of course it would impact their profitability (and therefore air fares). The choice they have is how to balance profitability, competitiveness and quality of service. 0 -

It's also to dissuade people from buying the tickets cheap then selling them on at a profit.0

No, but the name on the ticket has, and that's what matters, and it is the same sort of thing as Ryanair's check in fee. It's something that they could provide for very little costs, yet they don't want to be doing it, therefore if you're incompetent enough to not check in online, or misspell your own name, despite being reminded to check several times. But their name hasn't changed !
