Sony Xperia P
Options
A forlorn hope but he who dares..................!!
Does anyone know of a High St outlet with the Xperia P available to be seen and handled?
It's come down to a toss-up between the Desire X and the Xperia P, but nobody seems to stock the P! And my nearest Sony shop is about 50 miles away. For some crazy reason they have 2 shops in Edinburgh but not 1 in Glasgow or anywhere in the west of Scotland, other then Stirling!!

O2 have a shop just 7 miles away, but the P isn't listed on the website!!David.0

I don't know where you got that address from, but that's nowhere on the current O2 website.
I've just phoned my local O2 shop and they've confirmed that they do the Xperia range as per the website, which is minus the P!
So does anyone know what's wrong with the P? The fact that it's being missed out in retailers' ranges?David.0 -

There is nothing wrong with the Xperia P, the transition from SonyEricsson to just Sony have given some models a short life span, I would suspect the Xperia J is the nearest equivalent now.0 -
So I'm no further forward in finding somewhere that I could see a P in the flesh!

Probaly not, I have the xperia Ray, as mentioned earlier, my colleague has the xperia P, it is a nice size and functioned well with gingerbread , ICS is laggy on there, but liveable. Is there any particular reason it has to be the P ?0 -
I don't need something absolutely bang up to date, would like a slightly bigger screen than I have at the moment, Desire Z, but no bigger than 4".
So I think that brings it down to the Desire X, Xperia P, or the Galaxy S111 mini.
I'm a little disappointed to hear that ICS makes the P a bit laggy!David.0 -

The xperia J does have a 4" screen, the lag is not crucial, unless he pointed out what he noticed, I would not have noticed in daily use to be honest, on top of that the J is £10 cheaper than the P, but does sacrifice camera pixels 5mp vs 8mp.0 -
I've done a side-by-side comparison of the P and J, courtesy of Google, it was last night so I can't now remember all the differences.
In a lot of areas there's little difference, but in several core areas there is. The P only comes with Android 2.3 but there's an upgrade to ICS available, and the latest is that both phones are due to be upgraded to Jelly Bean.
The one potentially critical area where the P suffers is in having no memory card slot, but as I don't download/store music or films on my phone then the P's 16GB of internal storage will be more than enough for me.
Could I ask how your friend/colleague gets on with the P's battery life? That does seem to be a potential issue as it surprisingly has a smaller battery.David.0
