    Day Five :

Well that's me finished exercising for another day. I managed to speed up on the treadmill and walked at 3.5 km/hr for 10 minutes. I find the treadmill boring, so today I put on some music which made a big difference and the time passed really quickly.

I then went on to my half hour of pilates, which went well and I practiced 4 yoga exercises, which went well. I find the exercises where you need good balance pretty impossible to do, so will have to practice these. There is a 2nd episode of pilates on Sunday, so I am looking forward to getting that recorded. I will then have something new to try out next week.

Steamed my face as usual and I'm still using the tea tree oil, no improvement to my polyps yet.

I will have to work out what to do over the weekend. I don't think I will get a chance to do proper exercising, but do want to do something. I think I will practice breathing from my diaphragm, because that is the healthy way to breath. I am definitely breathing from my chest area.

I haven't noticed a great deal of difference yet, but I am feeling very positive and I am coughing a bit less. :)

    Day Six :

Well this is the first weekend since I started exercising and I wasn't sure how to spend it. After spending a while in a hot shower, my nose felt pretty good and not so swollen. I then spent my usual 10 minutes on the treadmill at 3.5 km/hr.

I got a big surprise in the afternoon, when one of the polyps in my nose came away. It was really flat and soft and just seemed to disintegrate as it came out. I was even more surprised later that night when another one came out. :jIn the nearly 10 years that I have had nasal polyps, this has never happened and although it is still early days, I am glad I decided to try out the tea tree oil.

In the afternoon I tried some exercises for the stomach, but I had some trouble with these because my stomach muscles are nearly non existent. Hopefully the pilates will help me strengthen these slowly but surely.

I will continue with the tea tree oil and keep my fingers crossed that this will get the polyps under control.

    Day Seven :

Another day on the treadmill today, listening to my new playlist on an MP3 player I have borrowed from my daughter. It is definitely more fun exercising to music.

My breathing has been a bit more difficult today, as I have been practicing breathing from my diaphragm. It is strange having to concentrate on every breath. I realise now how quickly I usually breath in and out and this is far more difficult when you breath from the diaphragm. I know it will become easier with time, as I have done it in the past.

Another piece of polyp came out today and my nose is definitely less swollen.

I also gained 1lb in the past week, so weigh in at approx 7 stone 6, with a BMI of 18.40

Things do seem to be moving in the right direction, even if they are moving very slowly.

  • Day Eight :

I was surprised when I woke this morning and I was still breathing from my diaphragm. I am sure it took me longer to learn the last time, it's a relief to have achieved something nice and quickly.

I stuck with the same exercises today and also managed 15 minutes of beginner's yoga, which I have not been able to do before. I am sure that my legs are stronger that they were when I first started. :)

Another polyp came away today, so that is about 4 so far. My nose is still swollen, but is definitely looking better than it was.

I am now actively trying to control my coughing, which is quite difficult. When I feel I am going to cough I hold my breath and hope that it passes. Sometimes it does and other times I just can't control it. I tend to find that when I cough once, I will cough over and over again. :(

    Day Nine :

I started using the tea tree oil in both nostrils last night and today I lost one polyp from each side. There are still plenty there, I don't know where they all come from.

I did my usual exercises today, could really do with finding some more beginner's classes to try out though. I also did 15 minutes of yoga again and enjoyed that.

It was really cold here this morning and I found that my cough was bad when I got up and was niggly for a few hours. The cold weather really doesn't agree with me.

Well done, you are doing well:j

Is your tea tree oil pharmaceutical strength? If not then it could be more affective.

How is your cough? Was it better in the afternoon?

Hi just reading your diary, you have done really well so far, great news about the polyps coming away :)

Can I ask have you ever considered using kefir as your probiotic ? Was thinking it may work out cheaper in the long run for you ?

    Hi spidystrider,

That sounds a great plan. I have a few tips if you'd like to hear them..

Meditation should help expand your lung capacity as I know people who have had serious asthma from childhood, and after practising Kundalini Yoga and meditation, it's pretty much non-existent now.

Diet is always a huge part of things too. Avoid caffeine, intoxicants, fizzy drinks and other acidic substances. Most illnesses come from us being too acidic, which is pretty hard to avoid these days as most food and drink contain acids.

Coconut water, different seeds and grains, as well as fresh vegetables can help balance our pH.

    Hope that helps!

"Keep up and you'll be kept up" - Yogi Bhajan, Master of Kundalini Yoga.

    Thanks for your nice information.
  • Well done Spidy, sounds like you're coming on in leaps and bounds :)

    Thanks for the reply. :)
The tea tree oil is pharmaceutical strength. I am so glad that I came across the information about it, as it's the first thing that has worked at all on the polyps.

My cough did get a bit better as the day went on, but I do find that if I have a bad morning, my chest feels some effects for the rest of the day.
