  • See, there you go - long term things are going to be fab :)

At least you know about the pre-diabetes and can take steps to avoid and to reassure yourself :)

Money, I have never heard the term pre-diabetic before and although it's not what you wanted to hear, it's good that you have had a warning of what was to come. At least now you can do something about it and it does sound like you have a great plan in mind.

Between being pre-diabetic and your stomach problems, it sound's as if your life has far too much stress in it and the sooner you begin your new life, the better.

HBS : I think you would make an excellent agony aunt :)

I've had another great day. I did the same exercises, but managed to do 2 x 20 sit-ups today.:T

Aw thanks Spidy! My friends generally say they don't come to me for tea and sympathy, they come for practical advice. What an excellent backhanded compliment ;)

Nice work on the exercises - have you tried doing reverse sit-ups or obliques? Just for a bit of variety :)

Am happy to announce that after six weeks of my new doc fighting with my old doc, I've finally had my repeat prescription sorted. Six weeks with no thyroxine is no fun at all :(

I will have to go and research what a reverse sit-up and obliques are, as I've never heard of them :). I had a little read of the thread you were mentioning ( the big bottomed one ) and it looked really good, so I'll have to join in at some point.

I can't believe the amount of exercises you get through and you must be really strong, with all those weights. You would laugh at the tiny amount of weights that I can shift :rotfl:I'm a total light weight.

I'm sorry to hear that you've had hassle with your doctors, why do they have to make things so complicated. I've never heard of thyroxine before. How did the respiratory clinic go by the way?

Reverse sit-ups you sort of lie on your back with your feet up and "curl" your hips off the ground, obliques is like a normal sit up except you touch your left elbow to right knee and vice versa. There will be videos on YouTube :D

Aw I just like lifting heavy things *blush* it's fun! I would never ever laugh at you lifting light weights though - everyone has to do what they can without hurting themselves. That's exactly what you're doing and therefore you are awesome!

My old docs were rubbish, they kept telling me there was nothing wrong with me when I was putting on weight and my hair was falling out and my skin flaking off and I was so tired I fell asleep...ON A MICROSCOPE!! Bright light to the eyes and I still fell asleep.

Turns out I have an underactive thyroid gland - the thyroxine is the treatment for that which is why I've been so desperate for it.

My new docs are going to put me on a combined inhaler that does the job of my 2 current preventers, so that's a result. I have to keep my blue inhaler in case I have a sudden asthma attack though. I like these new docs, they're nice :)

I am glad that you have found a better doctor, who is helping to make a difference to your health. Hopefully you'll go from strength to strength now, as it sounds like you have had more than your fair share of problems.

I had a look on youtube and saw the reverse sit-up, so I'll have go at those, I'll have a nosey and see if I can see someone doing the oblique one too. :) xx

    Good luck!

Honestly, I was not a very happy person physically and mentally in my early twenties. I have decided my thirties are going to be the best time of my life!

Make sure you do HBS, don't be like me and keep putting it off. I've been going to get fit so many times that I have lost count. Now here I am in my forties and still trying to get there :(.

Saying that, today was another great day. Did all my exercises today and managed to do 10 x reverse sit-ups ( thanks HBS x ), always nice to have something new to do. I will have to get the oblique ones sorted out next.

I also decided to do 11 minutes on the treadmill, but got so into listening to my music, that I walked for 15 minutes! I didn't think I could go that long, so it was a nice surprise.

  • Well done Spidy! If I think of any more fun variations on gentle exercises I will post them.

My squad got 8th in their cheer competition so I am a very proud coach. Tried to go to the gym today, did a bit but I'm just too pooped after all the driving, cheerleading and running around this weekend!

I'm not surprised you were tired with all that exercising and running around. Well done to you and your squad, you have every right to be proud :T. I imagine it must be really hard work coaching a cheer leading squad. I wish I was as fit as you :).

I am very happy with my progress though. I have settled on 12 minutes on the treadmill this week, which I managed quite comfortably this morning. I am sticking to 4 km/hr, as this is just a nice fast walk and I feel comfortable at this speed.

I did my exercises on the treadmill, another half hour of Pilates, 15 minutes of Bollywood style exercise, which is quite energetic ( maybe one day I'll manage the full half hour class! ). I then did 20 x sit-ups, 10 x oblique exercises ( don't know if there's a name for these ) and 10 x reverse sit-ups. I was pretty tired after all that, so I am finished for the day.

If you do think of any other exercises that are not too difficult, I'd be very grateful, HBS :) xx
