  • Good work on the exercise - I'm being jealous of all the people on here exercising as I'm poorly and can't atm :( And I must say as well, nice job on the Pilates - those classes kill me!

Sorry to hear about your nose though :( is it worth talking to a pharmacist?

    Hi HBS,
Sorry to hear that you are under the weather and I hope you make a quick recovery. :) I am really enjoying the Pilates and pleased with how it's going, but it is a beginner's class, so don't know how well I would cope with a more advanced one.

Some of my polyps are still coming out, but more keep appearing. It doesn't feel like my nose will ever be not swollen at this rate. I think I will likely see my doctor if it doesn't work in the next couple of weeks. It's the first time anything has had an effect on the polyps, ( apart from strong steroids ), so I am happy to give it a bit longer.

    Day 21 :

    I have had a terrible weekend. :(

Since Friday night I have felt there has been mucous lying in my upper chest area and I have been coughing a lot more this weekend. I am still trying to keep it under control, but it's been really difficult. I think it could be down to the effect the tea tree oil has been having on my nose. Loads of people have had success with this oil and have commented that it dries the polyps up and they fall out. Mine have been coming out, but they have been soft and moist. My nose has also remained very wet throughout the treatment, much wetter than it had been. I think this has made my post nasal drip worse and added to my cough.

I have decided to take a break from the tea tree oil, which is shame, as it's the first thing that has had any effect on my polyps. Even if it wasn't for the cough though, I would have had to take a break, as the outside edge of my nostrils are now red, swollen and crusted.

I have unfortunately lost the 1lb that I put on and my BMI has fallen to 18.28, so I now have to put on over a pound to get up to 18.5, which is the start of the normal, healthy weight zone.

Although I have been more breathless this weekend, I have managed to use the treadmill for 10 minutes at 4.5 km/hr on both Saturday and Sunday. The multi-gym has also been fixed and I have practised a couple of exercises on there too.

Tomorrow is the start of week 4, here's hoping that everything starts coming together again. :)

  • Oh hun, sorry to hear you've had a bad weekend! Nothing ever goes smoothly!

Try lip balm or Vaseline on your sore nostrils. Sounds silly but does work (I use a cocoa butter one, smells awesome haha).

Chin up, tally ho, soldier one. Take care!

Thanks so much for your concern, Sligo. Your message made me smile. :)

I am actually doing well again, after my blip at the weekend. I was feeling breathless on Monday morning and struggled a bit, but yesterday and today have been great.

I have stopped the tea tree oil for now and my nose is a bit more swollen again. I'm not sure if I will go back to it yet. My cough has died away again and I'm breathing comfortably.

I have felt more comfortable using the treadmill at 4.5 km/hr and although I am not ready to start jogging yet, I may try staying on it for longer in the near future. Yesterday I did some exercises which were based on ballet, which seemed to be a cross between Pilates and Yoga. I couldn't do the full half hour, as it was quite hard on the body, so I will have to strengthen up a bit yet. Today I did my favourite half hour of Pilates and also did a couple of exercises on the multi-gym.

I also decided to weigh myself this morning and found that I have gained my lost 1lb, so I'm 7 stone 6 again, with a BMI of 18.40. I would so love to get to 7 and a half stone and get into that healthy zone.

I did feel down at the weekend, but pushed on and I am so glad that I did. In the past, this would have been the time that I would have given up, but that won't be happening again. I can't claim to be feeling fit yet, but I have made a good start and can definitely see some differences. My breathing has improved, I have gained a little weight, while exercising at the same time. My body is stronger and a lot more flexible. The only thing letting the side down is the nasal polyps.

Thank you to everyone who reads this and takes the time to leave a message. When I am having a bad day, it really makes a difference and inspires me to keep on trying. :)

    HBS,

Thanks for your message and for sticking with me. :) It just so happens that I always have a tub of vaseline on hand. I've been using it on my nose, which is very nearly healed now.

Phew! Glad you're still doing well. You're an inspiration!!

How I wish I could suck out some of my body fat and donate it to you! If only things could be that easy! I'm at the other end of spectrum and trying to get my BMI down! But like you I'm trying a little every day and focusing on the longterm goal of losing weight and improving health/fitness levels.

    Keep on keeping on!! :D
  • I would donate you some weight if I could too ;) haha!

Glad to hear your nose is healed. I am due an appointment at a respiratory clinic shortly for asthma, would you like me to ask if there's any really new treatment for polyps?

Sligo - me too, my BMI says I'm obese at a size 14 - how demoralising!

Let's all just keep on a bit at a time :)

I hope everything goes well for you at the respiratory clinic and if you do find me a cure for nasal polyps, I will love you forever. :rotfl:I also agree that fat donation would be amazing, it's a shame they can't do it. I hope you both reach a weight you are happy with very soon. :)

I am pretty sure that the only things available will be steroids or an operation to get them cut out, but you never know.

I've had another great day today and had a go at 'Dance Ab Burn' for the first time. She was way too fast for me and I was constantly trying to catch up. I did enjoy it though and I'm sure it will be great to workout to, when I learn all the moves.

I am so glad I came across Fitness T.V. as it's got loads of different classes on it, so there's no way I can get bored. If I had to buy all the different dvd's, it would cost an absolute fortune!
