Hi there,
Another newcomer here... love the idea of peppermint bark!
Am not planning on making for birthdays but will do for christmas...we have 12 nephews and nieces and 14 adults our own age to make for plus our parents!
Was thinking for the teenage boys of doing a movie night hamper with a blockbuster voucher in it and some sweets and drink....maybe the peppermint bark.
will update when I get around to doing these bits!
Also was planning on making some notebook covers for the ladies in the family.Trying to earn some pennies from crafting again this year!0 -
I have started on a hat, but ran out of wool so must pop to shop tomorrow. And I may keep it as a trial one for myself!0

Hello to all newcomers
No further on with my bag but I did make an attempt at learning to crochet - not going well, I can't seem to get past the first chain, does anyone have any advice / links, I'm sure someone posted one earlier but can't find it so must have imagined it!September 2016 GC £21.37/£1200 -

I can't really make things for! I've had one idea that's a pattern for some fingerless knitted mittens, cable knit so they look like owls, she likes cute animals too, but I haven't learnt to cable knit so don't know if I'd be setting myself up for a fall learning and making in the next 3 weeks or so (even though my mum tells me it's simple!)[/QUOTE]
as long as you can purl and knit you've got the basic of cabling started, the basic cable is putting some stitches on a spare hook (or cable needle) and placing at front or back of the item your knitting and then bring them back.
I got a book from the The Book People, was £3.99 - how to granny crochet - and there are about 30 patterns and there all based on the one set of stitches with full details how to. I can only only do the basic granny stitch, i do blankets for babies presents and sometimes for the local dogs home.
xxxx rip dad... we had our ups and downs but we’re always be family xx0 -

Look, if you can do the "granny " squares you CAN crotchet!
Instead of going round in a circle/ square you need to be able to do rows. For example in Trebles (basis of squares) you just turn your work to the back, make 3 chain (instead of 1st treble), then work trebles all along the row, missing out that first stitch. Try a few rows, checking that you have the same number of stitches that you started with! It really is easy, but even easier if you can find someone to show youBeing polite and pleasant doesn't cost anything!

Hi All
I am new to all of this making things I really want to become crafty this year. Any ideas for a beginner?Just Looking For Advice. :-)0 -
I think I know where I've been going wrong - trying to approach it in a similar way to knitting. There's a lady at work who's going to show me in person tomorrow, so need to remember to bring my hook and wool in tomorrow. Fingers crossed she'll sort me out!September 2016 GC £21.37/£1200
