Blimey Christmas shopping lol, I am way behind this year. We went in our card factory yesterday and they had a basket of Christmas Cards out on sale lol
  • Well, I have reached that dreaded time of the year, car insurance due in middle of August. Intended to start looking at sites last weekend so I have an idea on my renewal costs but didn't get a chance.

Anyway, Monday night had an email from one of the sites saying based on last years information and moving all data forward a year, the cheapest we can find is this. Had a look to see what I paid last year - £330 (I am stung for London post code!), fully comp, protected ncd and legal, which I thought wasn't too bad. Their renewal has come in at £350, which again is probably not too bad until it is pitched against Monday's email of.........£240:j Yay, have at least £110 extra Christmas spending money:D Need to hit the shops:rotfl:

    AHHHHH what a day!!!

We did my a Uncle a favour on Tues, ordered him this posh hoover - £200 - he won't have any debit cards or credit cards - he gave me the money no probs - the hoover was due today - turned up, one at his address one at ours.

Rang the company - very unhelpful, turned out a glitch on their computer system charged us for 3 hoovers - put bank account over drawn!! got to give LLoydsTSB their due they were really helpful, said its £10 a day o/d charges don't have an overdraft - but as its not our fault they should refund the charges - but the company are liable, - I have the paper trail (online showing we only ordered 1 hoover), as a goodwill gesture they would not charge us to collect the hoover or restocking fee - but would take upto 28days for the £400 to get back.

NO......... after giving them to 5pm (3pm) to sort it, no money back in the bank then I would start an online claim for court and add the costs to them, plus all costs occured, - 10 mins later - the £400 extra been credited to my bank account, and there arranging a cheque for £90 as a goodwill gesture and to cover costs.

    Then........
Our lovely shiny new cooker, which only got fitted on Monday - the bottom oven doesn't work - the suggestion from the supplier just use the top oven!!! - could be a month before they can get an engineer out to fix it....... NO I want and I will have a new cooker - dropped in Sales of Goods Act (knew yr of Law at OU come in handy sometime!!) - yes we can have the same cooker again - no problem we're do that - sorry no you can't the cooker is not in stock - wont be in the next catalogue - but we're come and collect the cooker refund in 5 working days from it being collected and then we have to order a new cooker.......... (could be anything up to 14days!!) - so when we come back we're be living on beans on toast

3rd item - the toaster packed up - only had in Jan...

Thats our three - looking forward to the weekend, - I am the only one not packed - got to get that sorted tomorrow.

Lookin forward to the caravan - looks posh, got a washing machine (god send), decking, - fresh air for his lordship - downside no swimming pool on site, - but with the good weather, Miss Hoodie will get to go up the Great Orme on a cable car.

    xxxxxx
xx rip dad... we had our ups and downs but we’re always be family xx

    Hello All,

Just wanted to pop in and say hi again. It's been lovely reading about all your Christmas bargains - very inspiring.

rufusdog52 I really love that cake. Well done!

I've been following the good advice that's been given to me on this thread and am keeping an eye on things for Christmas gifts on my Wish Lists. I was very pleased to see Santa Montefiore's new book has come down to £5 from £12.99, so I'll be buying that today. It's for my auntie, whose birthday was just on Tuesday so I feel justified buying it.

I'm now thinking about making jam for Christmas. I bought loads of rhubarb when it was 69p at Aldi and it's currently taking up my freezer, so that's the next mission.

Hope everyone is well and not too warm!

    xx
