Well yesterday I had a call from twin2, first to say that she was babysitting for her friend, (while she was in court), and would not be able to see the Social Workers. I asked why she couldnt go home and take the child in the pram? Anyway, I called the social worker and she decided that they would go and visit twin2 at this girls house instead. I do not know the outcome of that meeting yet? Although I do know that twin2 later tried to get £10 out of me for her electric, and I said no. No can do. She then alas went to my parents and got money out of them. She lied to them, and siad that she was not with this girl anymore, and that she was going home. I telephoned her at 10.15 last night. She was not at home.
I sent a text to say to her that I was disappointed that she had lied to me, but gutted that she had lied to her grandad, who is 81.
Of course there is no answer from her.
I had my hair done, finally managed to get across to see the hairdresser, but her assistant did it. There is nothing wrong with it, it was just nearly 3 1/2 hours there, instead of the usual 2 or so.
So the day was gone.
We had called in to collect DS's phone from the blacksmiths, and I got to talk to the man. He is really pleased with DS's aptitude to the work, and is trying to find funding for the apprenticeship work for him. We will all just have to see what we can do to find someone to do the funding. He is currently trying to get the Canals people to support him, but we will just have to see.
Meanwhile I will try to do some research on line and see what i can come up with.
Dig deep Moo. Dig deep.
I saw Biggest of Mooloo on the way back. Had DGD and DS with me at the hairdressers, and the main hairdresser, who is Biggests friend, was going to the dentist, so she dropped DS and DGD at Biggests for me, and they waited there, until I was finished. (another hour plus later). So DGD had her tea with her cousin.
DS and I ate later when we got back.
I was tired last night, so just watched a bit of catchup on the TV and didnt come on the laptop etc, or similar to update.
My latest copy of Craftseller has arrived so I am going to bury my nose in it for a little while, if DGD will let me, and get enthusiastic about some work.
I have put my Mooloo website link onto the homepage link, and I have now also got a few things up on Moo Loo facebook, and my Etsy. Trying to get a few bits and pieces out there, and see if I can learn as I go, to take better pictures with my phone and upload from there. Should be easy, but I still struggle and it takes me several attempts to do things.
I will be glad when next week is finished, and DGD is back at school, so there is peace and space in the front room to sew properly again.
twin1 was unable to come here on Tuesday to see DGD but we are hoping that DGd can go to her tonight. Yesterday the Social workers, the one that put in the complaint and the one who came to see me, went to visit her. So it will be interesting if they are still singing from the same hymn sheet, or not. Twin1 was under the impression that things were OK? I am going to make a call and see what they are saying really.
I need to find out what twin2 is saying about her visit. When I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.0 -
Would it be possible to have a gentle word with your parents? Could you get across to them that by giving twin2 money they're simply keeping her teetering on the edge and not doing anything to substantially fix her financial problems? Are they fully aware of the extent of her financial problems and that she could soon be evicted?.................
....I'm smiling because I have no idea what's going on ...:)

Every thing crossed mooloo for DS funding - it would be wonderful if he had this chance, especially with the difficulties he has had with his dyslexia - something creative and practical like this could be such a great solution and help give him self esteem and confidence.I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days attack me at once0

DS wants to do a blacksmiths course, which would involve him having financial backing really, to be trained on the job and to go to the college. at certain intervals, where accommodation etc would be necessary. I haven't researched exactly what is involved yet, thats just what the blacksmith was saying the other day. He said its a four to five year course, but he said he couldn't afford to take DS on without funding. When I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.0 -
There are different funding streams out there particularly for people under the age of 24.
Their is an employer grant available to help with the costs of employing an apprentice worth £1500
He doesn't necessarily need to go to college, a private training provider may be able to deliver the training and can all be done in the workplace.
Have a look at the national apprenticeship website. Send me a pm with the area you live and I can investigate the different options for you if you like.

Did he say what he would need the funding for? Does he pay DS the proper rate for the work he already does for him?
DS is not doing any work for him. The blacksmith is showing him on a Saturday for free. DS is using the money he earns at the pub to pay for the bits . and bobs he is using and the blacksmith is helping him to build his own forge so DS can practice at home, well in the garden. DS will have to pY for the coke and the iron but not the guys time. however if funding can be found then DS can do the course work etc and go for a city and guilds and on to the degree etc. but hereford costs around £8,000 plus accommodation etc. anyway I will see what DS says tomorrow about the next step.
I am tired tonight so will come back to this tomorrow. When I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.0 -
Apologies if you've already checked this, Mooloo - but I've found this link:- http://www.baba.org.uk/training0

Thanks for link. Yes I have seen it. I think that it may be that the actual blacksmith may also need the funding to cover the costs to pay DS? as he is the one saying that he cannot afford it. (a massive order to a company in the USA that went bust lost him £28,000. for which he has not really recovered) amongst other factors I believe. I think that we will have to have another chat with him to see exactly who, what and where we must contact. Maybe the Canal trust may help as they do work at the entrance to the Blisworth Tunnel and do work with Stoke Bruerne Canal Museum. When I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.0
