Why was I sent an RBS debit card and a Child & Co cheque book ?

A few weeks ago I opened an RBS select account, I selected Child & Co as my branch and they sent me a Child & Co cheque book but an RBS online debit card (the light blue one).

Any idea why they done this ? Only thing I can think of is since I'm a new RBS customer, they don't trust me hence the online debit card, and Child & Co debit card must be offline.

Perhaps RBS only offer RBS branded debit cards, not Child & Co. It's only one branch after all? If your credit record isn't good they may only want to issue you with an online card at this stage?

That's not the case, the C&C debit card is gold, originally had the £250 CGC, I have had one for years.

It is indeed an offline card though, I never had a full auth one, so that could be the reason, the C&C branded cards are offline only.

I'm assuming you opened it on the RBS website. Did you apply through the normal RBS current accounts bit, or the RBS Private site?

I applied through the Personal side, I'm surprised they gave me a Child & Co cheque book when I only have an RBS Online Debit Card. How would I go about getting an offline debit card ?

Use the account, regular payments in and out, don't exceed your overdraft limit, bounce cheques, have direct debits returned etc, then in six months time ask them for it, as you'll have built up a better internal score with the bank.

Do you have a photo of the Child & Co cheque book and cheques? (Minus the personal details of course!) I'm intruguied to see what it looks like

TzarJay - did they send you the Child & Co card afterall? Sorry to be nosey - I was just thinking of getting one myself as it looks unusual.
