Hi All
I am looking to purchase a new car and have read some reviews on the I30. They seem to be pretty good however I can not locate any consumer reviews so I was wondering whether anyone here has one and could tell me whether they are good. I have heard that the car rattles after a couple of months...
I am looking for a 1.6 diesel as I am doing a lot of motorway miles. I'm also not sure whether I should get an eco drive or the usual diesel engine.
Any comments would be appreciated, thank you in advance.

We have a 1.4 petrol bought at 2 years old it is now 3 and half years old, no problems except for 1 hour after purchase when central locking wouldnt work, found it to be a recall issue but gargae we purchased from were hopeless at putting it right as despite us telling them it was a recall, they didnt know.
We then took it to another hyundai dealer who put it right straight away along with checking another recall issue that the seller didnt know about!!
the reason for telling you the above, the selling dealer was marshalls in Cambridge and I see thats where you are..I wouldnt ever go back to them but would go back to The Bury St edmunds dealer who sorted it for me0 -

The i30 is a cheap car, not neccesarily the best in that price range. The Kia Cee'd is a very similar car to the i30, but it comes with a 7 year warranty, instead of a 5 year one.
Not sure on your budget, but similarly sized car that has a very economical diesel engine is the VW Golf Blue Motion. We had a hire one on holiday and with motorway miles, it got almost 80 mpg!0 -

Thanks Oliverr.
My budget is about £15k and I am looking for a one year old car, diesel, at least a 1.7, cheap tax and good on insurance.
My other choice was the Insignia, very different to the I30 but I decided that it was too high on the insurance (being a 2.0 CDT Sri) and seeing that it had 20" alloys, I hate to think how much it would cost to replace the tyres. I love the car but it was a bit big for me seeing that I don't have a family yet.
I'm not keen on Kia. In regards to Golf, I've never really warmed to them but car buying is a long and hard process, I have looked, sat and driven so many cars I'm totally lost.0 -

Didnt realise your budget was 15k, thats a lot for a 1 year old i30 (isnt it?).
Further to my original post and your ref to not wanting a Kia.
We also have a 8 month old Kia ceed diesel with 20000 miles done....its a much nicer car than the i30, feels better built and def better to drive, but its not a direct comparison as the ceed is a diesel and an estate0 -
It is a lot for a I30 but I will obviously get change from that. the 15k for factored in for the Insginia but on second thoughts I did not go for it. so I Just have a bit of money to play around with.
I am doing a lot of motorway miles, almost 98% of my drive is on a motorway or dual carriageway so I'm looking for something with comfort and cheap to run etc.0 -

Thanks but I'm not keen on the shape, I am also looking for cruise control, rear sensors, bluetooth and these are all add ons on this this. Also, I didn't want to buy new as I don't want to take the hit for a new car. But thanks again for suggesting.0 -
