So I've just been sorting through a box on top of a cupboard and i've come across about 15 items of clothing that I had put away to sell...about 2 years ago :o I took them all out and refolded them all and had visions in my head that I can iron them and get them listed on ebay... so they are all back in the box again...waiting... your thoughts please. :o

I must be a bit odd, because I don't mind ironing. I listen to music and generally let my mind wander, thinking of all sorts of things. I've planned a load of things while ironing, and sorted problems out in my mind.

Re finding time for jobs and finishing them off.

When I was at work full time I was certainly more focused with things like housework, because I had limited time I just had to crack on with things.

Now I'm part time, I find that things that took a couple of hours spread over a couple of evenings now take a whole morning and part of an afternoon. I get sidetracked easily these days.

However, I do like to get things finished, I certainly have a perfectionist streak in me. But, over the years, I have learnt that things are rarely perfect. If it's better than when I started, I'll accept that.

I'd rather do a task that I can finish in one day. However, most I my upcoming tasks will take longer than that, so I'll just have to be patient.

I'm currently going through all our 7 inch singles, grading them for sale etc. its taken weeks, but it is paying dividends - I've sold several batches now. It's going to get even slower, as I'm now on the 60's records, and I want to see which ones are worth selling individually.

A few years ago I would have worked on this task 24/7, but I am a bit more relaxed now, and have accepted that it'll take time.

  • Tattycath, are clothes similar to those you have currently selling on Ebay?
My thought is that unless they are classics/vintage, they are now two years further out of fashion than when you put them away.
Could you cope with the disappointment if they didn't sell?

Is there a clothes agency nearby if they truly are "too good" for charity shops?
If in any doubt I would CS them.
Edit: Just spotted the free listings advice. Get them on!

Museum is looking for old airfix models, if anyone has some knocking about.

tattycath, I personally would charity shop them.

  • Evening Peeps,
i have spent some time on here this week... it has paid off though. I did weigh in some gold and silver... got enough to see us through to pay day:o
I am guilty of doing a list and beating myself up when its not completed... why?? Getting to the point of accepting it is just a guide for me and mark things off accordingly is easier for me.
VJSMUM its your mantra that has helped thankyou:D
I do ironing every now and then but do enjoy it as my mind wanders and also I can solve problems/challenges...whilst having music on.
I have an admission to make found some lovely "timeless" fashion clothes in the wardrobe and really got mad at myself for them being there... size 16... which I am currently not!!:o and why am I not....? anyway decided very impulsively to do something about it signed up with Slimming Word.. never done it before...so here goes got till my birthday in May.. to start seeing results. My aim will be only to buy new underwear as I have enough of everything else!!
Had a productive weekend putting items onto ebay... I actually managed to put on 2 extra items more than I planned ;)hope to carry on for next couple of days.
Not really put anything out of the house at the moment though, but am putting items back into a place where they should be.
    Stay focussed peeps - x

Tattycath, please either set yourself a time limit to list them on ebay, or cs them. Otherwise they'll stay and you'll be asking yourself the same question in another two years time :).

VJsmum, I hope you don't mind me pointing this out, but some of my hoarding issues are down to my mother throwing out/giving away my things when I was younger - I had no say over what disappeared from my life, so some of my hoarding is a control issue. I'm working on it, but please, please, reconsider how you may be affecting your children.

Piglet, I hope your husband is now out of pain, and gets the treatment he needs soon.

Not a great start to the day here either, I let the swimming springer out for a wee at ten to six, and went back to bed until half eight. I came back down to three runny 'presents' on the lounge rug - it looks as though the jumbones that SIL2B had kindly and generously bought for the swimming springer have disagreed with her. After that, and the marathon session yesterday, I didn't feel up to much, but I did manage to de-richard one dressing room drawer and the wm filter. Five more things have been removed from the office of doom, and six t-shirts moved from the spare room cod's, and seven added to the cash for clothes bag. Three lots of wasing done & put on clothes horse, and roast dinner cooked.

Mary Berry's mum's recipe for bread & butter pudding is outstanding, btw, far better than my mum's. Made it with single rather than double cream though, and left out the citrus peel. I'm offically full now! :)
Good enough is good enough, and I am more than good enough!:j

Thank you - I know what you mean and I'm sorry for you, but please don't worry. These were only a few things slung in a box in the spare room. I didn't know we had them and they really won't remember - it's just if they see them they would insist it was their favouritist thing EVER and have to keep them. I wouldn't dream of throwing away the "special" cuddlies they have.
I wanna be in the room where it happens
  • I've put my entire CD collection onto one 16GB USB stick (is that all I've got? :(), got £16 from CashConv3rters, securely wrapped up a load for Music Magp1e to take round to a collection point tomorrow and CS'd the CD storage unit and a Russian language course (book and CDs in a little plastic box).

I've tried using vinegar on a pair of shoes that are covered in salt stains, polished up the latest shoe acquisitions (£7 for two pairs from PDSA) and washed two new blouses (one per una sale and one from Barnado's).

And done three loads of washing.

I'm going to go through my wardrobe again and weed out stuff I haven't worn for a while, if at all and put away the dry clothes once that's done.

Then I'm going to CS the weeded out clothes and, while I'm there, try to resist the siren call of the 'bargains'.

Ironing? I'm sure I've got an iron somewhere...............
 Don't know what I'm doing, but doing it anyway...

I need a nudge! I've done nothing yet but look at the snow and drink tea. I must do something!

Today it'll be the toiletries, shoes and sort the airing cupboard.
