Aww I did a big long post last night but it seems not to have posted properly
I did get my 12 things done in our bedroom last night, and 7 in daughter's bedroom before she went to sleep. Must do a lot more tonight (including a hoover) as our friends arrive tomorrow for the weekend!
I like this '12 thing' list, it makes it easier to break down the tidying and I found myself hunting for quick things to do"Why, this is hell, nor am I out of it."0 -

Impressed by all the stuff being done over the last couple of days! I so want to do some, but yet another sleepless night has left me trying desperately to conserve some energy before work this evening
Hoping for a sleep filled night, as got a day off tomorrow before heading away for the weekend and I hate leaving (and coming back to) an absolute mess! I don't even need to do anything major, just the basics, will try for a dozen tomorrow and anything I can if I manage a second (can it be second with no first?) wind before work!

I have been following this read avidly, although I have not had much time to add to ti recently. I find all your efforts inspiring.
I have noticed that there is a lot of worry over tidying up/dealing with children and their stuff, and I wanted to make a suggesstion.
I don't have any, but I know a lot, and have been a child. Mum went to college with 4 kids, youngest was 3. She completed an access course, degree and postgrad, so had a busy time. We were no angels and not very helpful.
There was a certain minimum requirement every day - washing up would be completed, dry clothes had their own armchair to live on and wait to be sorted. Everything else waited until there was time. So we were safe and hygienic, but no frills.
Children create mess, you may as well try and stop the tide coming in:rotfl:If we wanted something, we knew where to find it, and if looking for it meant folding all the clothes along the way, that was a bonus.
Maybe its time to look at standards and the priorities. Who are we doing it for? Ourselves, family, the authorities?
Having an ironed t-shirt won't make much difference to a small child, having room to run about and play will, and so will having mum relax and play a game, rather than being chained to the housework.
I don't mean this to come over as a criticism, we are all busy with work, family, trying to keep up and get out of a mess. Of course if stuff is actively interfering with day to day life, the sonner its out the better, but sometimes I think we get to caught up in the perfectionism (not doing anything, because we can't do everything). Whereas perhaps not beating ourselves up, and having a short list of 'must do's' would help.0 -
