I have to confess (as I have posted it on the sewing thread so you may call me on it anyway
) I am planning on adding to my fabric stash even though my current mega project was designed to use up my stash, it has actually increased my interest in the stuff - I guess I'll have to sew faster
I did pass by some lovely vintage cotton reels in the cs this am - in fact I have passed up more gorgeous vintage craft stuff than I could possibly list, in the last 3 weeks, despite everyone decluttering their stuff and putting temptation in my path I am strong, I am woman, I am invincible (ok I am a pushover when it comes to fabric!)You never know how far-reaching something good, that you may do or say today, may affect the lives of others tomorrow0 -
My wardrobe is nearly done! Three bags of clothes to the cs, spare hangers relocated to DD's room awaiting sorting (which is a project for another day - we have far too many hangers) and I have room on the hanging rails to actually see what I have in there
I also sorted my dressing table and I found a mirror lurking behind the mountain of debris!0 -

I must have nearly fifty scarves that I have knitted in the expectation that I would sell them on ebay. I cannot see that happening at all. I think I shall do a hit and run to a charity shop that I normally avoid and dump them. Then I shall concentrate on fancy ones and just donate them as I go, it is a hobby for me. This means that I can get rid of a lot of yarn that I had put aside for scarves that I am not really keen on. I don't think, realistically, I would make enough from each scarf to cover postage and yarn. I am not sure that they would even cover postage, especially some of the fancy ones. I can still knit scarves for fun, and I will probably enjoy it more! It is hard writing off a huge chunk of stuff like that, but the sooner it is done, the sooner I have that space where they were.
Your scarves sound lovely! I hope it's ok to mention this here - there is a charity called Operation Orphan and they have an annual Keep a Child Warm campaign, where they send warm clothing to orphanages in Serbia and Moldova. These places get unbelievably cold in winter and warm clothing can literally save lives.
I know they were short of scarves in particular last year0 -
Evening!
This morning, I pottered around, did a dishwasher load (and put it away), did a washing load of towels and dried them (and put them away) and then, this afternoon, I put away loads of clean clothes (throwing away 3 tops that were stained/didn't fit right) and tested my new steam mop (that I got for absolutely nothing, due to cashing in some Amazon vouchers).
It's not bad, certainly neater than sloshing around buckets of water. And if the colour of the cloths is anything to go by, the floors should be properly clean by about the tenth go round.
But, at least all but the carpeted bits (stairs & landing) and the bare boards bit (my room) have cleaner floors than they did yesterday.
Oh, and I sorted out the tinned food in the cupboard, as it had got a bit jumbled up as I've been steadily working my way through it.
Doesn't sound like a lot, but it still feels like a quite productive day.
I think I might have a Chinese takeaway tonight. I've already made two meals and cleared up after both, plus prepared a pasta salad for tomorrow afternoon after my class, so I reckon I've earned itI could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.Yup you are officially Rock n Roll0 -

I think you have earned it too JoJo. I have done nothing today. I'm temporarily immobile due to a fall last week. I'm so fed up of not being able to get around properly. I vacced the landing yesterday in a 'sitting on the floor' position.couldn't manage the stairs.
Oh dear. I hate that. It took ages when I slid down the stairs before Christmas to feel normal(ish) again.I could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.Yup you are officially Rock n Roll0 -

Your scarves sound brilliant. Many MSE knitters also knit for LovingHands.org.uk which takes many items for charities including Operation Orphan and many local ones too, Loving Hands will be having a stand at the Farnborough Craft Fair and I have sent LovingHands some pretty knitted scarves to put on their stall.

Hi all,
Not posted for a couple of days as have been a bit all-over-the-place, but have been reading.
Sorted out some bits of crockery and cutlery for someone I know who is moving into a flat with nothing. I sorted 6 dinner plates and thought I'd check how many I still have (15:o) and sorted 4 mugs, still have 10!! and sorted 6 knives, forks and spoons and still have far too many - I didn't even count:o (there's now only 2 of us so I think I have plenty left;))
On the plus side I have cleared quite a bit of space in another cupboard and emptied a storage box!
Also sorted through my towels at weekend and have freegled a big stack of old ones.
Listed loads of stuff on ebay as was free listing, so we'll see how I do with that.
On the downside DS has just announced that he wants to take Art as one of his GCSE options and I've just freegled and ebayed loads of my Art stuff:( Trying not to think about it....Official DFW nerd - 282 'Proud To Be Dealing With My Debts'

re garage crisis
Dear All
Ive still not caught up with the threads yet but big thanks for all your support when i had an unexpected reaction to stuff i was clearin yesterday.
whitewing there is more emotional stuff in the garage but iknow what most of it wil be and after this episode i plan to give myself a heads up by peering into the box the day before!! I took your advice and put it on the loft HOWEVER i was mindful of the fact that this is churning so out of the loft came a box of unsold green metropolis books that have now gone to the charity shop.
Byatt((big hugs))) i am in love with your cat. Thank you for your kind words. please look after yourself and know we are all very fond of you.xx
pitlanepiglet yes i have done that and feel better
jo jo i think there is so much yet to unfold we have never discused most of what is in the file. He knows that he has a special brain which works in a different way we have never used or discussed a diagnosis because i do not believe he fits in any one. Certainly goldie girl you hit the nail on the head i think once he finds his niche in life it will all be irrelevant and i believe he is getting there.
Thisyear thanks for the kind words
Big thanks to all!0 -

I've just had an email from DD2 for exactly the same reason. I think it's a request for some of the things.
There are only about two things on the list that we already had, and considering DD1 also did art and it's always been something popular here, it's surprising just how little there was that we'd ever had - I think about the only things were a watercolour box and some pastels. Even the acrylics were the wrong ones (tiny instead of huge), and DD1 took both portfolios to Art College with her.
In any case, I'm not convinced that a teenager will be as comfortable in class using some old half used thing when others have got brand new.
I had my Chinese takeaway and am now in bed. There's nothing on telly, so I may as well get warm.I could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.Yup you are officially Rock n Roll0
