Goldiegirl or anyone with gold to sell try this firm http://www.hattongardenmetals.com/
I can highly recommend them, have used them twice with excellent results, there a calculator on the site to give you an idea of how much your gold or other metal is worth.
There is also a thread on MSE with good reviews.

I just saw your post.
Will definitely check them out. Many thanksEarly retired - 18th December 2014

I took two massive bags of clothes to the charity clothing bin today, mostly old promo tshirts and uniform from old job, but a couple of things (stuff I could actually rescue from the pile it lives in) that were previously in the "stuff I must keep because it must be ebayed and I cannot possibly lose that money" pile. I am quite pleased with this, and I even managed not to have that "one final look" through the bags to make sure there wasn't anything I needed (there won't have been, this stuff has been in said bags for months!).
In addition to this, OH did a great job of tidying around my stuff recently, he's provided us with an almost clear looking living area and has promised to help me work through the stuff round the edges bit by bit. We'd love to move somewhere bigger, but I am sure that all I will do is fill a bigger space with more things, so have put a hold on that until I'm rid of some of it!
This weekend we have set aside a morning to go to the tip (old Christmas tree needs to go, and there's some card in the garage) so we're now putting with it any other things which are obviously rubbish. This will, if I can get to it, include the rest of my ebay pile, as it has been clogging up our living space for several months now (we've only been here 18 months and there is yet more at the parental abode).
Pretty pleased to have made a start on it tbh, let's see if I can keep up the momentum!0 -
After falling off the de-hoarding wagon spectacularly over Christmas
, I've started to get back into my "de-Richarding" mission.
This morning I took a large bag of books (mostly hardbacks, they were bloomin' heavy too!) to the charity shop.
And I have been ebaying like there is no tomorrow for the last couple of weeks. We have made a few £'s and more importantly we are starting to make a dent into the junk pile that filled the home office. So much so, that we may be able to use the room as an office again soon :T.Value of prizes 2010 - 2017: £8374 Wins 2022: Magic set

greyqueen your description of pushing a marble uphill with your nose is so apt. It really does feel that way far too much lately. But it will get better - especially as eldest daughter now has heating, hot water, a bed (arrived this morning) and a benefits appointment to apply for her housing benefits, so she will feel more relaxed and less stressed and in turn will be less likely to take her feelings out on the rest of us.
Bexim i know exactly what you mean about having a 'last look' and i have stopped doing that now apart form when the children tidy their rooms Then i have to have a last look through as they have a habit of throwing lego pieces away and that drives me insane! It costs so much i cant really afford to replace it and they love it so much but when they get bored of picking up rubbish they start throwing everything in sight into the rubbish bags. Last week i found my son had put one of my cd's (i had been looking for it and didnt realise he had it) in the rubbish bag. I was furious with him!0 -

Stuff expands to fit the space available (actually it takes over more than the space available!)
sevenup01 - don't aim for perfect with the toys, just aim to fill your trolley with a reasonable amount to cs, and to make some space for DD's little legs in her own bed - then breathe - and put a date on your calender to revisit them and do it again - you will get there! Glad to hear that older DD is getting sorted tooYou never know how far-reaching something good, that you may do or say today, may affect the lives of others tomorrow0 -
Can I just add an eBy moan? 4 items I sold during the snow have all been given feedback today - I despatched them all within the 3 days I promised (trudged through snow), all the feedbacks say how fast it was yet my dashboard score for despatch speed has dropped from 5 to 4.7.
In 3 of the 4 sales I had over estimated the postage so gave the buyers a refund of the difference - but my postage score has dropped from 5 to 4.9
These are buyers who bought perfect brand new with tags clothes for an eigth of the shop price - what do these poeple want, blood? You never know how far-reaching something good, that you may do or say today, may affect the lives of others tomorrow0 -

Yes. In a word some of these people do want blood and even if the item does not cost them alot they still find something to moan about. Not sold on ebay for a while-there's no pleasing some people.
I do need to list some stuff soon though. I'm drowning in 'stuff'GE 36 *MFD may 2043

Tomorrow is the first day of the rest of my life! Except that today was going to be that day! My home is a mess. DH and I had "words" over the weekend about the clutter and junk that is to be found all over the flat. We are as bad as each other for not putting things back where they belong. We dread people dropping in on us, we'd die of shame. I'm not suggesting that the place is awful, we have reasonable furniture, and it's attractively decorated, but in every room, cupboard, and alcove, there is "stuff". Four cats add to the bedlam, as well as gadgets of all descriptions. I accumulate bits of paper. There is so much to do, I am terrified of starting it. So, today I have spent the time reading hundreds of posts thinking "I am not the only one", but somehow the whole day has gone and I haven't done a thing! I may not be the only one in this situation, but I am the only one who can do something about "my situation". Before I can find my bucket, mop, duster, hoover, polish and iron, I need to locate my motivation. So again I bolster my resolve and state: "Tomorrow is the first day of the rest of my life, do something with it!"OCTOBER £280 spent £341.10

Hi there.
My suggestion? Just do one thing, be it washing a dish or picking up an item and putting it in its rightful place...just one thing...0 -

A goldfish grows to fit the size of its bowl, in the same way that stuff will grow to fit the house.
I think of it as the goldfish principleEarly retired - 18th December 2014
